2/27/2025

Prior to the start of the blessed month of Ramadan, Qatar Charity (QC), distributed aid to several hundred displaced families in camps located in the Deyniile and Kahda districts of the Banadir region in Somalia. The assistance is part of Qatar Charity’s ongoing humanitarian support to improve living conditions for displaced families in the camps.

This assistance consisted of 400 sets of kitchen utensils, 920 small water filters, and 920 solar-powered lamps.

Simultaneously, aid has been provided to needy families, orphans, and persons with special needs sponsored by Qatar Charity to improve their living conditions, provide sustainable livelihoods for them, and meet essential needs that facilitate mobility and social integration for persons with special needs. This assistance included 500 sets of kitchen utensils, 139 sewing machines, and 72 wheelchairs, including 34 electric wheelchairs.

Mr. Yusuf Abdi Osman, Relief and Humanitarian Affairs Officer for the Kahda District, praised the generous contributions of donors in Qatar and the ongoing efforts of Qatar Charity in delivering humanitarian aid, noting its significance in improving the lives of the most affected populations. “This aid has come at the right time, as displaced and needy families urgently require continuous support,” said Osman.

Beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for the aid. Saada Ali Mohamed, a displaced woman from the Meshani camp, noted that she received kitchen utensils which she desperately needed, especially before Ramadan. She thanked Qatar's generous donors for providing the aid.

Khadra Aftan Mohamed, another displaced woman from the Maleele Camp in the Deynile District expressed her gratitude to the donors and Qatar Charity for providing her with solar lamps and water filters.
