As a contribution to supporting the water and sanitation sector in the Republic of Albania, Qatar Charity signed two agreements to dig 110 wells at a cost exceeding two million Qatari riyals, benefiting more than 20,000 people from the towns of Kamza and Vora. Qatar Charity also laid the foundation stone for building a mosque at a cost estimated at $1.5 million Qatari Riyal.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Chargé d'Affairs of the Qatari Embassy in Albania, His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Sahli, the Director of the Programs and International Development Department at Qatar Charity, Mr. Abdulaziz Hajji, the Mayor of Kamza Municipality, Mr. Raqib Sola, and the Mayor of Vora Municipality, Mr. Balarim Shira.
the Charge d'Affaires of the Qatari Embassy in Albania, His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Sahli said: “The Qatari and Albanian peoples have distinguished relations, and the State of Qatar attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation relations with the Republic of Albania.”
For his part, Director of Programs and International Development at Qatar Charity, Mr. Abdul Aziz Hajji, said: “These projects are from the people of Qatar to their brothers in the Republic of Albania, and Qatar Charity always extends a helping hand to our brothers in Albania, especially in times of crisis.”
For his part, the Mayor of Kamza Municipality, Mr. Raqib Sola, thanked Qatar Charity for carrying out these projects with the highest quality standards and for its interest in the region and its seriousness in implementation, expressing his happiness and the happiness of the residents of the region with the signing of these agreements.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of the Vora Municipality, Mr. Balarim Shira, said that this agreement will contribute to alleviating the problem of water outages and expressed his desire to open new horizons for cooperation between Qatar Charity and the Vora Municipality.
Building a mosque
In conjunction with the signing of the agreement, the Mufti of Shkodra Governorate, His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Sutari, laid the foundation stone to begin the construction of the Tobhana Neighborhood Mosque, the number of beneficiaries of which was estimated at 5,000 people, at a total cost estimated at 1.5 million Qatari riyals.
His Eminence the Mufti visited many projects implemented by Qatar Charity in the Zalpstar area of the municipality of Tirana and spoke with residents to determine the importance of these projects for them. He also visited Al-Fajr School, affiliated with Qatar Charity, where 400 students’ study and which is equipped with the latest modern technical equipment.
It is worth noting that Qatar Charity, since opening its office in the Albanian capital, Tirana, in 1994, has worked in several fields, including social care, where it sponsors 6,000 orphans, people with special needs, children of poor families, and students, providing them with monthly sponsorship and seasonal and annual assistance. As for the field of education, Qatar Charity has a model school in which more than 400 students, from primary to secondary levels study. It also has a cultural training center that provides distinguished services in the field of computer training and teaching different languages to more than 1,500 students, in addition to its contribution to building schools and hospitals and digging wells.
