Qatar Charity delivers relief aid to victims of White Nile flooding

The Sudanese authorities praised Qatar Charity's rapid response to deliver relief aid to those affected by the recent flooding of the White Nile State, Sudan where the Humanitarian Aid Commission said Qatar Charity was at the forefront of delivering timely shelter assistance to dozens of families whose homes were completely destroyed. “We highly appreciate the quick response from Qatar Charity to shelter the affected in the state,” said Mansour Ali, Humanitarian Aid Commissioner in White Nile State. He also noted that Qatar Charity is a strategic partner, looking forward to more joint work in the future.

Many affected people were delighted with the assistance and they thanked Qatar Charity for its humanitarian efforts. Mr. Abdullah Abdul Qadir Muhammad Bakhit, who was affected by the recent flooding of the White Nile State, said that people in the area were in need of urgent assistance delivered by Qatar Charity, which provided good and comfortable tents and blankets for the affected.

Once Qatar Charity’s field teams learned about the flooding that devastated dozens of homes in the White Nile State, they contacted the local authorities in the state to provide urgent relief to the affected in different areas where 58 families received shelter assistance from Qatar Charity.

The assistance comes within the framework of the humanitarian aid provided by Qatar Charity to all affected areas in Sudan, as part of its humanitarian responsibility towards the vulnerable and those most in need of shelter and food assistance.

During the last few months, Qatar Charity has delivered assistance to more than 27,000 people affected by the recent floods that hit Sudan. The ‘Peace for Sudan’ campaign launched by Qatar Charity received an overwhelming response from the people in Qatar and contributed to alleviating the suffering of the beneficiaries by delivering urgent shelter and food assistance and working on the reconstruction of areas affected by rain and floods in Sudan.

Qatar Charity delivers relief aid to Ethiopian refugees in Sudan Continuing its efforts to frequently deliver humanitarian assistance to the Ethiopian refugees in Sudan, Qatar Charity (QC) provided aid to the refugees in Al-Tanideba camp to lessen their hardship, especially in the severe winter. The concerned Sudanese authorities praised Qatar Charity's support extended to the Ethiopian refugees who fled the conflict in the Tigray Region in search of safe havens. The aid included 600 tents, and the other 1,500 tents are expected to be distributed in the Al-Tanideba camp soon, in addition to delivering food aid to the refugees. Abdul Hafeez Muhammad Khalil, director of the Refugee Housing in Gadaref said that Qatar Charity has been at the forefront of supporting the refugees since their massive displacement and crossing into the Sudanese territories, indicating that its support would continue in the coming period. Many Ethiopian refugees thanked Qatar Charity for its continued support for them. Qatar Charity has previously carried out the first relief intervention to shelter Ethiopian refugees fleeing the conflict in the Tigray region to Sudan. It provided 100 tents and 2,600 blankets for the refugees in the Umm Rakobeh camp on the eastern borders of Sudan in the early days of the refugee wave. Some 800 people crossed from Ethiopia’s Tigray region into eastern Sudan in just the first few days of the new year. Since early November, more than 56,000 Ethiopian refugees have fled to neighboring Sudan. Qatar Charity has already carried out many relief interventions in Sudan, including the relief effort it made during the worst flood in a century.

QFFD’s delegation visits Qatar

As part of field visits to projects funded by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) in Jordan, a delegation from QFFD, led by Sheikha Mthayel Al Thani, a researcher in humanitarian aid, visited the Qatar Charity Comprehensive Health Center in the Zaatari Refugee Camp. Sheikha Mathayel expressed her admiration for the center's workflow system and the effective delivery of services to beneficiaries. She also commended the diversity of available services and their ongoing improvement within the center. Mr. Saleh Al-Marri, General Supervisor of Qatar Charity’s office in Jordan, stated, "In affirmation of the humanitarian initiatives presented by the State of Qatar, and with the support of the QFFD, Qatar Charity has rehabilitated and established the largest health project in the Zaatari Camp in the Mafraq Governorate, Jordan, in 2023." Al-Marri added that the Qatar Charity Comprehensive Health Center is the largest health facility within the Zaatari Camp, with 12 specialized clinics, serving 49,000 refugees residing in the camp. It's worth mentioning that Qatar Charity established the Comprehensive Health Center in the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan in 2023 to Provide Medical Services to Syrian refugees. The center works on improving access to primary healthcare services in several specialties, including ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, cardiology, dentistry, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology, in addition to providing vaccination services for children.

Qatar Charity launches ‘Giving

Qatar Charity (QC) has launched its Ramadan campaign for 1446 AH - 2025 AD, called "Giving Lives on". The campaign aims to benefit 4.5 million people in need across 40 countries, including Qatar, with the support from benefactors in Qatar. Qatar Charity's "Giving Lives On" campaign will deliver aid and development projects, with a strong focus on Gaza where over two million people face a food crisis. The campaign will also address other basic needs and support early recovery. Thanks & Appreciation At the press conference opening, Mr. Ahmad Yousef Fakhroo Chief Marketing Officer at Qatar Charity, offered Ramadan greetings to Qatar's leadership, government, citizens, and residents. He thanked donors and urged them to support the "Giving Lives On" campaign to aid millions in need, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, vulnerable families abroad, and those with low-income in Qatar. Fakhroo explained that the campaign's name, " Giving Lives On", reflects Qatar’s deeply rooted generosity and encourages people to emulate their ancestors' kindness, especially during Ramadan, to help those in need globally. Zakat Calculation & Collection Fakhroo noted that Qatar Charity offers easy donation methods, including online (qcharity.org/en) and via mobile app (qch.qa/appen), and can assist with Zakat calculations for individuals and companies. Donors can easily calculate and give their Zakat through the "Home Collector" service on the app (qch.qa/appen),or by calling 44290000. They can also donate at Qatar Charity’s branches and mall collection points in shopping malls. Seasonal Projects Inside and Outside Qatar During Ramadan, Qatar Charity's seasonal projects and humanitarian aid aim to support over 2.1 million people both within Qatar and internationally, with an estimated cost of QR 166 million. Seasonal Projects Outside Qatar Mr. Nawaf Abdulla AlHammadi, Chief Global Programs Officer at Qatar Charity, detailed the Ramadan projects outside Qatar, indicating that they include ‘Feed the Fasting’ (hot meals and food packages), ‘Zakat al-Fitr’, and ‘Eid Clothing’. AlHammadi explained these projects will be implemented in 39 countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe, with priority given to crisis-affected countries like Palestine, Syria, Sudan, and Yemen. He mentioned that Gaza will receive significant attention, with plans for the largest Iftar project on Ramadan's first day and the dispatch of relief convoys. Development Projects Outside Qatar Al-Hammadi stated that the campaign will mobilize support to implement various projects (shelter, water, mosques, orphan sponsorship, etc.) with an estimated cost of QR 282 million, benefiting 2.4 million people. Seasonal Projects in Qatar Mr. Faisal Rashid AlFehaida, Chief Local Programs Officer at Qatar Charity, mentioned locally implemented Ramadan projects that include ‘Mobile Iftar for Farm Workers’ in 7 places and ‘Iftar Tables’ (Ramadan tents) at 46 locations. He also noted ‘Ramadan Supply’ for families with limited income, widows, and divorced women, as well as shopping coupons, in addition to Zakat Al-Fitr and Eid gifts. AlFehaida added that aid will be provided through the ‘Alaqraboon App’ for debtors, prisoners, and humanitarian cases.
