In debt, supports her family, wants to pay Zakah

I am a single female that supports her family. I pay Sadaqah occasionally. My father is alive but he doesn't support us. I don't have savings or gold saved. In fact I have debts. Should I be paying Zakah? If yes, when and how much?

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. A Muslim has to pay Zakah if his wealth meets two conditions: 1 - It should constitute a Nisab (the amount that determines whether Zakah is obligatory or not. It is equal to the value of 85 grams of pure gold). 2 - One Islamic (Lunar) year should be passed after possessing the wealth, i.e. the Nisab. Thereupon, you are not obliged to pay Zakah since your holdings do not constitute the Nisab. May Allah reward you for your good support to your family. Allah knows best.
