Is there a Hadeeth says that if Zakaat was given in a land as it should be, there would be no poverty?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
We do not know any narration from the Prophet in which he says that if people pay Zakat there would be no poverty on Earth. This could not be possible because there are poor Muslims and poor non-Muslims on earth and in principle Zakat cannot be paid to a non-Muslim. Of course if all the Muslims pay Zakat on their money that will eliminate poverty among all the Muslims or at least among the majority of them. In general, if wealthy people spend their money as they are ordered to on an obligatory basis or optional basis, poverty will disappear and justice will overwhelm.
Allaah knows best.
