Qatar Charity to lay foundation stone for huge shelter project

A delegation of Qatar Charity (QC) has arrived in Turkey to lay the foundation stone for a large shelter project for the benefit of internally displaced Syrians. This comes as part of Qatar Charity’s continued efforts to provide qualitative shelters for the vulnerable.

The residential city, which is considered to be one of the largest housing projects for the displaced Syrians, will have 1,400 homes, in addition to the basic facilities. It is also expected to include kindergartens, and primary, preparatory and secondary schools for boys and girls, in addition to a vocational school.

The city will also have a mosque, a primary health care center, a market, administrative buildings, green spaces, and children's play areas, in addition to integrated infrastructure for water, sanitation, and electricity services, and roads.

Qatar Charity, through this project, aims to alleviate the suffering of the displaced in northern Syria by providing adequate housing for their families living in challenging humanitarian conditions due to the displacement and the lack of the essentials of a safe life.

Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, Qatar Charity has managed to establish 11 model villages, benefiting tens of thousands of the affected and the displaced in northern Syria, and Syrian refugees in some neighboring countries, at a total cost of 96.5 million Qatar riyals. These villages and cities have nearly 5,368 housing units for 5,368 families. Some of them have schools, clinics and health centers.
