The slogan " Delight them with your Udhiyah..for a dignified life", is used to commemorate a great year and to strengthen the principle of solidarity and compassion.
Qatar Charity launched the Udhiyah campaign for this year 1443 AH, through which it aims to support the charitable people in Qatar to provide about 50,000 sacrifices of sheep and cows in 39 countries around the world, including inside the State of Qatar. It is expected that about one million people will benefit from it, at a total cost of more than 29 million riyals.
The campaign focuses on distributing Udhiyah within Qatar, countries in crisis and currently affected areas by drought, — in particular Somalia, as well as under communities in a number of African, Asian, and European countries.
Press Conference
Mr. Saud Al-Maadeed, Director of the Media Department, Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Director of the Social Welfare Department, and Mr. Yousef Abdullah Al-Khulaifi, Head of Programs and Rehabilitation Department at Qatar Charity spoke at the press conference held to announce the campaign details.
At the beginning of the press conference on behalf of Qatar Charity, the speakers thanked and appreciated the benefactors for their support of Qatar Charity’s campaigns and projects throughout the year. Speakers have also urged the donors in Qatar, on the occasion of the approaching of the blessed month of Tho al-Hijjah, to take advantage of its double wages and hurry to donate to the Udhiyah campaign for Qatar Charity in order to reach the largest number of people. Additionally, speakers have also emphasized how the donations brings joy and happiness to the hearts of the largest number of orphans, refugees, the poor, and also those affected by drought. Furthermore, the media and influencers in the society were urged by the speakers on communication networks to support this important campaign.
Vow of famine
The launch of the campaign coincides with the alarm of famine sweeping many African countries, threatening the lives of more than 20 million people in Africa alone due to drought and the significantly high prices. In addition to the recent high frequency of UN warnings, as its estimates showed that nearly half of Somalia’s population (7.1 million people), By next September, they will face a crisis in food insecurity due to an unprecedented drought in 40 years, and that 1.4 million Somali children are facing severe malnutrition, which calls for donors to double their donations to support the sacrifice campaign and to confront hunger as a fraternal and humanitarian duty, especially in these blessed days.
The campaign came under the slogan “Delight them with your Udhiyah … for a dignified life,” to make the sacrifice season a season of expansion for those in need and are affected by the difficult conditions they are going through.
Inside Qatar:
The campaign in Qatar aims to provide 3,713 sacrifices, benefiting nearly 30,000 people in Qatar society, at a cost of more than 3 million riyals, with the goal of expanding on the target groups, in addition to 1,450 children benefiting from Eid clothing at a cost of 580,000 riyals.
The Udhiyah will be distributed to orphans and their families who are sponsored by Qatar Charity and families with low incomes in the outer regions (the North - Al Khor - Al Wakra), in addition to workers across the country, people with special needs, and students.
Various activities
The campaign projects inside Qatar also include distributing Eid clothes to 1,450 people, benefiting 450 orphans and 1,000 children from low-income families, with the aim of drawing a smile on their faces on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Adha.
The campaign also dedicated educational activities and events in commercial malls accompanying the “delight them with your Udhiyah” campaign, including the “Hajj Journey” event, which is a coexistence journey for children by designing models for Hajj rituals and distributing Ihram clothes to children. Furthermore, there is information challenge corner, a virtual reality corner and a tour of the Grand Mosque and the rituals of Hajj, in addition to the "Hajjat Al-Eid" festival, which targets orphans and their families.
Outside Qatar:
In regards of outside the state of Qatar, the campaign aims to distribute approximately 46,255 sacrifices in 39 African, Asian, and European countries, with 925,102 people expected to benefit at a cost of approximately 25.6 million riyals.
The campaign focuses on regions and countries that witness exceptional events and circumstances, such as the displaced inside Syria, Syrian refugees in neighboring countries and Palestine, those affected in Yemen and affected by the drought, especially in Somalia, in addition to the poorest groups in other targeted countries.
The countries in which the Udhiyah will be distributed include: Palestine, Somalia, Tunisia, Lebanon, Sudan, Kenya, Mali, Togo, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Benin, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Philippines, Albania, Bosnia, Ghana, Turkey, Jordan, Ethiopia, Senegal, Chad, And Yemen, in addition to Montenegro, Tanzania, South Africa, Morocco, Djibouti, Mauritania, Burundi, Gambia, Niger, in addition to Malaysia, Indonesia.
