Some 2000 affected families are expected to benefit from this assistance, while the distribution of aid will continue in other affected areas in the coming days.
The beneficiaries expressed their delight with the aid, which was welcomed and praised by the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) in Sudan.

Targeting Other States
The QFFD, in coordination with the Standing Committee for Rescue and Relief Works and Humanitarian Aids for Afflicted Areas in Brotherly and Friendly Countries, has sent this new batch of 46-ton medical and relief aid.
Mr. Hussein Karmash, Director of Qatar Charity’s Sudan office, said, Qatar Charity carried out rapid interventions in the country as usual, in cooperation with QFFD, noting that some 1,000 affected families have so far benefited from the shelter and food aid in Omdurman, while some states affected by the floods will be targeted in the next stage.
Live Transmission
Qatar Charity took part in the special live coverage organized on Friday via various Qatari media outlets to garner support for the “Peace for Sudan” campaign, under the supervision of RACA and in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and the Qatar Media Corporation (QMC).
The fundraising transmission raised a total of QR89,669,812, including a donation of QR50mn from Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Qatar Charity thanked all the individuals, companies, banks, institutions, and all the sections of society for supporting the “Peace for Sudan” campaign, noting that benefactors can still contribute to the campaign to reach out to the largest number of the people affected by the terrible flood.
Commenting on the current flood relief cooperation between Qatar Charity and the QFFD, Khalifa Jassim Al-Kuwari, Director General of QFFD, said that QFFD’s support through Qatar Charity comes in response to the relief appeals made by the Sudanese government due to the worst flood that hit Sudan in a century.
He added that the support, at the same time, falls within the keenness of the State of Qatar to provide a rapid humanitarian response to those affected by disasters and crises across the world as a humanitarian duty, hoping that that Qatari aid would contribute to lightening the suffering of the beneficiaries.
The CEO of Qatar Charity Youssef bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, considered that the urgent humanitarian intervention for the Relief of the flood victims in Sudan could not have been possible without the financial support from the QFFD, and the presence of a Qatar Charity’s field office in Khartoum capable of responding urgently to disasters.
He also noted that Qatar Charity would continue its efforts with the support from benefactors in Qatar to maximize the number of beneficiaries in the coming period.

The Commissioner-General of the HAC Abbas Fadlallah, welcomed the Qatari aid and the support from Qatar Charity to help those affected by the floods.
