The winter campaigns of Qatar Charity (QC), supported continuously by the generous people of Qatar, help ease the suffering of millions of internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, and vulnerable families. These campaigns aim to make their lives safer and warmer by meeting their essential needs for food, shelter, and medical care.
A few days ago, coinciding with the approach of winter, Qatar Charity launched the ‘How Long’ campaign for the 2024-2025 season. In parallel, it expressed heartfelt thanks to Qatar’s generous individuals and companies, who donated to the ‘One Heart’ campaign implemented in the 2023-2024 winter. The impact of their contributions is evident through figures and success stories, showing the difference they made in the lives of those in need.
Thanks to the support of generous donors, last year's ‘One Heart’ campaign distributed aid to over 7.5 million people, including IDPs, refugees, and the most vulnerable families, across 14 countries, as well as workers within Qatar. The total cost of the assistance amounted to approximately QR 188 million, exceeding the initial targets for both the project costs and the number of beneficiaries.
Qatar Charity emphasized that the generous donations had a significant impact on the target groups of the campaign, particularly IDPs, refugees, and vulnerable families. The contributions helped alleviate the harsh cold, especially in crisis-hit areas such as Gaza, Palestine, northern Syria, and Yemen, as well as in the coldest regions worldwide.
The campaign focused on meeting the winter needs of the target groups in the areas of comprehensive relief, shelter, food, health, water, and sanitation. The assistance included food packages, winter clothing, blankets, heaters, fuel, tents, house rents, maintenance of homes and caravans, first aid kits, personal hygiene kits, health services, water tanks, and other support.
Due to the ongoing crisis in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, it received the largest share of the campaign's aid, totaling QR 68 million, benefiting over 884,000 people. Additionally, aid was provided to IDPs in northern Syria and Syrian refugees in Turkey exceeded QR 48 million, reaching nearly 4.5 million people. Meanwhile, the assistance allocated to Yemen through the same campaign exceeded QR 12 million, benefiting more than 107,000 individuals.
Within Qatar, the campaign focused on workers, reflecting Qatar Charity’s commitment to fostering social cohesion and recognizing their role in development efforts. Approximately 4,500 workers benefited from the campaign’s aid, which included winter kits, food packages, medical assistance, and awareness activities organized through a medical camp.
