Continuing its humanitarian efforts in Ghana, Qatar Charity has successfully launched a new central well that addresses the critical water scarcity issue in the "Bono" Eastern region, benefiting approximately 4,000 people. Additionally, a state-of-the-art Quran memorization center has been opened in the "Oyarifa" area, receiving widespread appreciation from local communities.
The Quran memorization center is expected to serve over 120 beneficiaries.
Significant Impact
Sheikh Abdullah Said, the Imam of the region, expressed deep gratitude for the support provided by Qatar Charity and the people of Qatar to the residents of Eastern Bono. He emphasized that the project had a profound impact, as it is one of the largest and most recent initiatives in the area. Through this project, Qatar Charity has alleviated the government’s burden by ensuring a steady supply of clean drinking water.
Ending the Water Crisis
Qatar Charity has put an end to the hardship faced by families who previously spent large sums on purchasing water, through the implementation of the central well project. The well provides reliable access to water throughout the year, even during the dry season, thus alleviating the struggles of thousands of families who once faced difficulty accessing clean water.
Supporting Students' Well-being
Mohamed Abdel Razak, a beneficiary of the central well project, noted that the provision of clean water by Qatar Charity will significantly reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases, especially those resulting from contaminated surface wells. His family and community will now enjoy better health, enabling them to engage in livelihood activities. Furthermore, children in the region will be able to remain in school, rather than dropping out to search for water.
Quran Education
The newly inaugurated center in Oyarifa offers residents the opportunity to memorize the Quran and learn Arabic that was previously only accessible by traveling long distances.
Dina Osei, one of the students at the center, shared, “Women in the region have begun studying the Quran and Arabic immediately after the center was established.”
Serving Over 4,000 Beneficiaries
Mr. Malam Tenko, a teacher at the center, highlighted that they will focus on teaching students the importance of discipline and dedication to memorizing the Quran, which will be valuable for their personal growth. He expressed sincere thanks to the people of Qatar for their generosity in establishing this modern educational facility dedicated to Quranic studies and the Arabic language.
