Qatar’s donors support half a million people in Bangladesh in 2024

Qatar Charity (QC), with the support of the kind people in Qatar, implemented 2,235 projects in Bangladesh in 2024. These projects benefited 548,167 people in the areas of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), relief, education, health, development, and economic empowerment. 

These initiatives are part of Qatar Charity’s ongoing commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable communities in Bangladesh, addressing their needs while fostering sustainable development.

WASH

Qatar Charity implemented 1,930 WASH projects across 14 districts, benefiting 96,500 residents. These projects played a pivotal role in enhancing water access for communities suffering from contaminated water sources.

Qatar Charity completed 216 mosque construction projects in 40 districts in 2024, benefiting 43,200 people. These mosques provide spaces for prayer and community gatherings, promoting unity and belonging among residents.

Education & Health

Qatar Charity implemented 33 educational projects that include the construction of schools and Qur'an memorization centers in 13 districts, benefiting 5,050 students. These projects aim to provide better educational opportunities and empower underprivileged children to access education.

Health projects were another focal area for Qatar Charity in 2024. These efforts facilitated the treatment of congenital heart disease in 113 children from families financially unable to afford such life-saving treatments.

Social Welfare

In the areas of social welfare, Qatar Charity, through its Rofaqa, continues to sponsor 4,426 orphans in Bangladesh. The organization also built 5 orphan care centers to benefit 1,000 children in various regions of the country.

Qatar Charity also completed 40 housing projects across 18 districts, benefiting 238 individuals. The housing projects aim to provide safe and affordable homes for those unable to afford their own.

Economic Empowerment

Qatar Charity implemented 4 income-generating projects in two districts, providing farmland to empower 20 people financially. These projects aim to equip vulnerable individuals with resources to support themselves and their families.

Seasonal and Relief Aid

Qatar Charity provided seasonal aid to the most vulnerable during Ramadan, Eid, and winter. Through 4 projects, Ramadan aid, Zakat al-Fitr, sacrificial meat, and Eid clothing were delivered to 68,620 people. Additionally, the organization distributed winter clothing such as blankets, hoodies, and jackets to 11,000 sponsored orphans and their families.

Qatar Charity’s quick response to the devastating floods in the Noakhali district in 2024 delivered relief aid to 318,000 flood-affected individuals. Food packages and clean water were provided to families in their time of need.

Future Projects

Building on its remarkable achievements in 2024, Qatar Charity has ambitious plans for 2025. The organization is set to implement more than 2,000 projects across Bangladesh, continuing its commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable communities.
