As part of its ongoing humanitarian response and emergency aid efforts, Qatar Charity distributed 700 food parcels to refugees in the "Central Camp" in the Abkh region of Djibouti, benefiting approximately 5,000 individuals. The project was carried out in coordination with the National Office for Refugee and Disaster Relief (ONARS) in Djibouti and local authorities. The food parcels contain essential food supplies, each of which can sustain a family for a full month. The aim of this initiative is to improve living conditions and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of refugees by meeting their basic needs. It is part of Qatar Charity's programs to enhance food security for refugees hosted by Djibouti.
Collaboration and Coordination
On this occasion, Mr. Mohammed Kamel, Director of the National Office for Refugee and Disaster Relief (ONARS), expressed his gratitude to the people of Qatar and Qatar Charity for their efforts and the aid they provide in emergency humanitarian response. He highlighted the significant need in this field, especially for food supplies and other essential needs for refugee families. He also welcomed the continued cooperation with Qatar Charity in implementing further projects and assistance for refugees, displaced persons, and those affected by natural disasters.
Sustainable Relief Programs
For her part, Ms. Ghada Ezdin, Director of Qatar Charity’s office in Djibouti, stated: "Qatar Charity prioritizes supporting refugees and plays a central role in this field by providing essential food aid and implementing sustainable relief programs aimed at meeting their basic needs." She added that "the organization works with a comprehensive methodology that includes assessing field needs, coordinating efforts with local and international entities, and ensuring the equitable and efficient distribution of resources. Qatar Charity is also committed to developing long-term initiatives to enhance self-reliance and improve the living standards of beneficiaries, contributing to community stability."
The aid was well-received by the beneficiary families in the "Central Camp" in the Abkh region of Djibouti, who expressed their gratitude to the generous donors, praying for blessings in their wealth and great rewards from God. They considered the assistance vital in supporting their families and meeting their living needs, enabling them to cope with the difficult conditions in the camps.
