With generous and inherited support from the good people of Qatar, Qatar Charity has launched the Iftar project in Ghana and cote
d’Ivoire
to distribute 100,000 hot Iftar meals to underprivileged families, sponsored individuals, and the neediest groups in the two countries, as part of the Ramadan "Giving Lives On" campaign.
Qatar Charity’s field teams in Ghana have begun distributing hot meals at numerous centers in four major cities in Ghana: the capital Accra, and the cities of Kumasi, Tamale, and Wa in northern Ghana.
A direct impact of inherited goodness Many beneficiaries of the hot Iftar meals provided by Qatar Charity expressed their gratitude to the people of Qatar for supporting them with ready Iftar meals as part of the "Giving Lives On" campaign for the year 1446 AH / 2025 AD, highlighting the significant impact of the meals, which were prepared in the best specialized restaurants.
Imam Najm al-Din al-Aziz stated, "Qatar Charity has provided hot meals at our mosque, which was also built by Qatar Charity itself in the crowded Zonkou area, where its teams began distributing Iftar meals to fasting Muslims at the mosque from the first day of the holy month."
Enhancing the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood Hassan Ouda, Director of Qatar Charity in Ghana and Ivory Coast, revealed that over 100,000 people are benefiting from the Iftar project. He mentioned that Qatar Charity is organizing regular communal Iftars at a community center in Abidjan, where an Iftar is hosted for the region's residents to strengthen the spirit of faith, brotherhood, and solidarity, with the attendance of orphan families, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
Ouda also mentioned the start of a communal Iftar event in the city of Ougéné in northern Ivory Coast at a community center, where the locals and residents will be invited. To date, 10,000 meals are expected to be distributed in Ivory Coast.
Daily communal Iftars Abdullah Muslim, Program Manager at the Ghana office, stated that Qatar Charity distributes Iftar meals daily to the mosques it has built and organizes daily communal Iftars for Muslims, including those in boarding schools and Quran memorization centers. He noted that this year’s Iftar project in four major cities in Ghana will benefit fasting Muslims from underprivileged families, coordinated with the Department of Religious Affairs.
Special Iftar with Orphans In a kind gesture, the Qatar Charity team in Ghana shared Iftar with an orphaned family in Accra, amidst an atmosphere filled with appreciation for the people of Qatar. Umm al-Yatama, the mother of the orphans, expressed that she and her children were very happy with the visit from Qatar Charity’s team, who brought joy and happiness by sharing the Iftar experience with her orphaned children on the first day of Ramadan.
Prayers for the people of Qatar Several beneficiaries, including the sponsored individuals and underprivileged families, expressed their deep gratitude to the people of Qatar who donated to the Iftar project. They prayed to God to reward them for their charitable acts, such as supporting Iftar for the needy and vulnerable families in this blessed month. Umm al-Yatama said, "We ask God to accept your deeds, as your goodness has been abundant."
