Qatar Charity (QC), in cooperation with Mauritania’s Ministry of Vocational Training, Handicrafts, and Crafts, has inaugurated a new sewing workshop in Nouakchott to benefit graduates of vocational training programs, who come from underprivileged families.
The inauguration was attended by Mr. Amady Ould Taleb, Secretary-General of the Ministry, H.E. Mr. Fahad Al Dosari, Chargé d'Affaires at the Qatari Embassy, Mr. Omer Abdelaziz Mohamed, director of Qatar Charity’s Mauritania Branch, and Mr. Ibrahim Ould Abibakar, Director of the Technical and Vocational School.
The Ministry’s Secretary-General, Mr. Amady Ould Taleb, stated that the inauguration of the sewing workshop reflects a “fruitful partnership with Qatar Charity” focused on vocational training and economic empowerment for vulnerable families. He added that the government's emphasis on vocational training underscores the importance of the workshop, the beneficiaries’ need for it, and the necessity of ensuring its effective use.
Mr. Omer Abdelaziz Mohamed, director of Qatar Charity’s Mauritania Branch, expressed gratitude for the partnership with the Ministry of Vocational Training. He emphasized Qatar Charity's strong focus on vocational training and economic empowerment due to their significant impact on vulnerable families. He noted the workshop is well-equipped for producing school uniforms. He added that it is part of upcoming joint initiatives with the Ministry, designed to meet real needs, ensure sustainability, and support cooperatives instead of individuals.
Mr. Ibrahim Ould Abibakar, Director of the Technical and Vocational Secondary School, lauded the Mauritanian-Qatari cooperation and expressed gratitude to Qatar Charity for funding the sewing workshop. He noted that the project is a result of strong partnerships in the training sector and aims to elevate training quality to meet labor market demands and decrease unemployment rates.
Expressing their gratitude, the beneficiaries welcomed the newly inaugurated workshop as a valuable opportunity to turn their vocational training into sustainable income. Mrs. Al Salima bint Abdullah highlighted its importance in creating essential job opportunities for women and families in need. Mr. Abdullah Ould Mohamed noted its broader impact, including addressing the shortage of school uniforms while supporting low-income earners. He extended heartfelt thanks to the people of Qatar for their generous support.
