Qatar Charity launches ‘5%’ to support low-income families and students in Ramadan

Qatar Charity (QC) launched the ‘5%’ program to create and restore hope to low-income families and students in Qatar during the holy month of Ramadan.

The concept of the program is that organizations, companies, and shops can support it by donating 5% of their profits for one month only. The donations will then be allocated for the benefit of low-income families and primary, preparatory, and secondary school students.

The initiative comes amid the continued coronavirus pandemic that has badly affected the economic conditions of families, many of whom became unable to cover school fees for their children. The program aims to promote the right to education for students in schools, provide families with the necessary foodstuffs, and join hands to confront the economic implications of the pandemic on families with limited income and students in Qatar.

The Director of Programs and Community Development at Qatar Charity, Mr. Jassem Muhammad Al-Emadi, said that the program comes to contribute to preserving the cohesion of families affected by the pandemic and providing education for their children within the State of Qatar.

Al-Emadi urged all organizations, companies and shops to participate in this program, indicating that Qatar Charity is working on studying the cases of families with limited income and students, counting the number of families affected by the pandemic, and verifying that the cases meet the requirements of social research to benefit from the financial aid provided during the last ten days of Ramadan.
