Qatar Charity participates in Kosovo’s largest mosque inauguration
Qatar Charity (QC) participated in the inauguration of Kosovo’s largest mosque, a unique architectural masterpiece, in the presence of Sheikh Naim Ternava, the Grand Mufti of the Republic of Kosovo , and HE Ali bin Hamad Al-Marri, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Albania and Kosovo, in addition to Mr. Nawaf al-Hammadi, CEO's assistant for International Operations and Programs sector at Qatar Charity
The opening of the "Sheikh Shuaib Arnaout" mosque in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, coincides with the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan. The five-storey mosque can accommodate 2,500 worshipers, and includes classrooms, a library, a computer lab, and a play area for children.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the Honorable Mufti of Kosovo praised the attention given by the Qatari Emir, government and people to their brothers in Kosovo, and the Qatari support delivered in the country, applauding Qatar Charity’s role in implementing previous development projects in the country.
The inauguration of the mosque comes at a time when the holy month of Ramadan is just around the corner, added the Mufti, indicating that it is one of the most beautiful mosques not only in Kosovo but in all of the Balkan countries.
HE Ali bin Hamad Al-Marri, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Albania and Kosovo expressed his happiness to participate in the opening ceremony. "This mosque came as a result of the concerted efforts and support of the philanthropists from the State of Qatar and the Republic of Kosovo,” said the ambassador, noting that the relations between the two countries encourage us to do more to promote joint action between the peoples in Qatar and Kosovo.
The ambassador stated that we in the State of Qatar attach importance to strengthening relations with the Republic of Kosovo in various fields, and this beautiful mosque is a gift from the people of Qatar, through Qatar Charity, to our brothers in Kosovo. He also extended his congratulations to the people in Kosovo and all Muslims on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
Mr. Nawaf Al Hammadi, CEO’s assistant of the International Operations and Programs Sector at Qatar Charity, expressed his delight at taking part in the opening of the mosque, thanking the Mufti of Kosovo for his continuous cooperation, and the people in Qatar for supporting their brothers in Kosovo.
Al-Hammadi indicated that he witnessed the signing of an agreement to pay the electricity bills of more than 860 families of orphans, and he is in the process of signing another pact to build a new mosque.
QC's projects for Kosovo cover different segments of society, benefiting orphans, people with special needs and low-income families. The number of those sponsored by Qatar Charity has reached nearly 3,350. In the field of education and training, more than 5,000 people have benefited from the Qatar Training Center, which was established and is run by Qatar Charity. More than 500 income-generating projects, as well as over 1,000 water and sanitation projects, have been implemented.
