Qatar Charity, in partnership with the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Organization IHH, was opened

Zafar Arsoy School in the Ihtaimlat area in northern Syria, and it is expected that more than 900 students will benefit from it. The importance of the school lies in its location in an area with orphan camps. The school offers scientific and legal sciences at the same time.

This school is characterized by the installation of a central heating system, to be the first school in the region to have this feature, to help students receive education in good conditions

The opening ceremony was attended by the Director of Education in the city of Kilis, Mr. Muhammad Amin Akourt, the General Coordinator of Education in Azaz, Mr. Mustafa Kojak, and the educational coordinator of the Suran region, Mr. Hussein Polat, in addition to representatives of the local council and the Directorate of Education in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

The school consists of 14 classrooms on two floors and operates on a two-shift system, a full-time one for basic education students and a full-time one for middle and secondary education students. More than 924 male and female students will benefit from it. It also provides job opportunities for 60 teachers and administrators from the area's residents.

This project was greatly welcomed by local officials. In this context, the director of the educational office in the local council of the city of Suran, Mr. Mustafa Al-Najjar said: “This school came after a long suffering due to the lack of schools in the region, and both Qatar Charity and IHH responded to this appeal,

We are happy to open this school, which will benefit its students and all the residents of Suran, and we thank everyone who contributed to the construction of this school.”

For his part, Mr. Omar Qaraqosh, Education Officer at IHH, said:

"The school is of great importance because it is in a camp area, such as the Ihtaimlat orphanage camp and Maram camp. This school will serve about a thousand male and female students."

Qarqosh added: "The importance of the school lies in meeting the student's needs, especially since most of them are cut off from education due to repeated displacement by providing them with free transportation.

Thanks, and gratitude

Mr. Hassan Polat, the educational coordinator for the Suran region, thanked the Qatari people, Qatar Charity, and IHH for their efforts in the education sector, and emphasized that the school had already started giving lessons.

It is noteworthy that the Zafar Arsoy School is one of several schools opened by Qatar Charity since the beginning of the current academic year in northern Syria, and the establishment of this school is part of a larger project working to restore and expand 6 other schools in the region.
