According to the agreement, educational programs will be implemented under the title “Makarim – Kada – Al Murabi – Rihal” (Generous – Leaders – Teachers – Men) for a generation towards a better future. 

Educational programs

Mr. Youssef bin Ahmed Al Kwairi, QC’s CEO, and Mr. Ghanim bin Sa’d Al Sa’d, Chief of the Board of Directors at Tarbeya Center, signed a cooperation agreement which states that both parties will work together to implement educational programs for the benefit of the school students.

These programs aim at preparing and educating a generation that will grow to build the future and take responsibility of education and the society.

Joint Efforts

Mr. Al Kuwairi said that this agreement reflects QC’s prioritization of the Qatari youth and its interest in bringing up a generation that can build a better future.

He also added that through this agreement, QC seeks to join its efforts with other parties in order to achieve the expected goals. QC and Al Tarbeya Center agreed to encourage the students and educate them on how to be responsible for the educational, social and cultural aspects of life.

He finally thanked all the workers at the center who never spare any effort to support humanitarian work and skill improvement. He also welcomed any cooperation with interested partners in serving the Qatari society.

Convenient Circumstances

For his part, Mr. bin Sa'd, commended QC's humanitarian and social role in a time when such work needs a lot of hard work and sacrifices for this field has grown to face several challenges and difficulties that increase every day.

He also highlighted the fact that this agreement is for the benefit of the most important category: the youth. They are the leaders of the future.

“This agreement essentially supports training, which is the most important part about the field of development. We aspire to achieve so many great things which represent the start of a series of accomplishments and agreements in different fields. The circumstances are currently very convenient. Everyone is helping! The country, the society, the youth; we are all in this together. All we have to do is to identify our goals and work together to achieve them,” said he.

Fruitful Agreements

QC has recently signed a number of cooperation and partnership agreements with Tomooh for Voluntary Work Management in order to offer a distinguished community work.

Furthermore, it has signed an agreement with Ajyal Training Center so as to organize different activities, events and programs to offer developmental and social services for the society. Together, they will hold training and educational courses. QC has also signed an agreement with Mental Health Friends Association through which the two parties can benefit from each other’s experiences and potentials in the field of serving people with special needs.

Finally, QC has signed cooperation and sponsorship agreements to implement educational programs and voluntary work initiatives with educational centers and some youth. These initiatives included ‘Salati’ (my prayer), ‘Al Majalis Madaris’ (sessions are like schools), and ‘Sohba’ (companionship) initiatives. QC has signed agreements with ‘Layan’ for the relief of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, E’dad Tarbawi Center (Educational Preparation) and Rowad center. These agreements include the implementation of developmental and cultural projects and programs in Qatar, relief and voluntary work campaigns outside Qatar.

As a part of its annual winter program, the fourth edition, the Executive Department for Local Development at QC launched "Leaders of the Future" program for the orphans that Qatar Charity is sponsoring.

The program included a workshop for programming computer games that targeted more than 20 "future-leaders" students. The workshop aims at developing the skills of using computers and at introducing the children to programming principles, and using Microsoft’s Kodu visual programming language. Microsoft Qatar had hosted the programming part of the camp and offered a skilled trainer who delivered an intense workshop for around one week. The children were able to program a game of their own creation and tested it practically with their peers.

 Ali Al Gharib, Head of the Local Developmental Centers at QC, stated, “The Winter camp was organized with the aim of integrating the "future leaders" with the society in an atmosphere of benefit and joy.”

 The executive department of local development at QC organized the annual spring program for more than 130 future-leader students starting last January until 4^th of February. In addition to the computer games programming workshop, the camp included Science Made Fun Workshops facilitated by Qatar Science Club, arts & crafts workshops, a robotics workshop, sport activities and other soft skills courses (Building Self-Confidence , Being Positive).

The program received the attention of ExxonMobil Qatar that sponsored it and made its implementation possible.

By encouraging students to learn new skills and make full use of their personal talents and strengths, the Future Leaders program is helping to develop the next generation of Qatar’s workforce,” said Abdullatif Al-Naemi, National Development Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar. “The program creates an interest in programming at a young age and provides participating children with an opportunity to learn computing skills – a necessary requirement as the world becomes ever more dependent on computers.”

 “We are proud to play a role in helping foster a powerful generation of workers who are tech-savvy and confident, and who can build a bright future for Qatar,” he added. 

Al Gharib appreciated ExxonMobil Qatar’s support and full cooperation with QC to organize the event. He wished that all local institutions and organizations would follow the same path as part of their social responsibilities to boost the local society, especially in the field of cultivating skills and talents.

Winter Programs

It is worth mentioning that the QC Community Development Centers, under the executive department of local development, have organized events for the winter vacation that target hundreds of students, especially orphans. The events include camps, Umrah trips to Mecca, and different cultural, educational, and entertainment activities. The targets of these events are students from different schools and ages.

Future Leader

QC gives priority for social and educational care for the "future leaders" candidates, filling their free time with activities that would help them and deepen their belief to make them capable of bearing the burdens of life. The programs aim at sharpening the children’s skills and abilities through various cultural, entertainment, and sport activities. They also offer care for the orphans’ families.

Social Responsibilities

QC has established a specialized center for community partnership to introduce the QC developmental programs, and to exert efforts to bring such programs into effect through partnerships with the public and private sectors. QC has singed many partnerships with national organizations and companies, allowing them to provide effective community programs that are designed, implemented, and socially tested by a specialized team at QC. This offers the chance for different institutions to maximize the impacts and benefits of the budgets allocated for community programs by approaching QC CSR team.

• 3 out 7 families won, each family spoke about certain dangers and solutions.
• Al Hajri: Climate change has become an issue and endless concern.
• Al Ali: One of the most important constituents of solving the issue of climate change is to reinforce the values, skills and behaviors which lead to friendly attitude towards the environment.
• Al Seirafi: Developed countries must hold responsibility towards less developed countries.

 QC concluded a competition entitled 'Climate Change Assembly Simulation' in cooperation with Al Wakra Municipality and Friends of the Environment Center. The winners were announced after the competition took place between 7 families.

Each family represented a different country in the competition. Families would speak about the countries they are representing, offer research papers discussing the possible challenges of global warming and the damage it would cause, and offer solutions.

Mohammed Nasser Ali family representing Russia won the first prize, Khaled Mahmoud Adwan representing Palestine won second, and Hassan Mustafa Shatta representing Saudi Arabia won third.

An Issue and Concern  

Dr. Seif Al Hajri, President of the Climate Assembly Simulation Conference and Head of the Qatari Committee for Sports and Environment, announced the beginning of the competition. He pointed to the fact that the countries' participation in discussing climate change was highly connected to the future of the coming generations. "Climate change has become the issue and concern of everyone, not just certain continents, islands, or neighboring countries".

Mr. Ahmed Al Ali, Director of Media Administration at QC and Representative of the hosting countries in the conference, said, "This competition seeks to raise the awareness of families regarding climate issues. It requires the increase of social awareness about global warming, the responsibility of every and each one of us. One of the most important constituents of solving the issue of climate change is to reinforce the values, skills and behaviors which lead to friendly attitude towards the environment". He stressed on the importance of educating children and youth who will be in charge soon. They need to learn how to face the multiple complicated challenges of climate change of the coming decade. Since they are at a young age, their mentalities and habits can be altered to become more effective and environmentally friendly. "QC is interested in holding such competition because it believes in the importance of reinforcing environmentally friendly values and raising the people's awareness about their importance," he added.

Hostility towards Nature

He also said that winning over nature was a costly concept adopted by humanity. "Man's fight against nature has been going for a while; it is the cause of severe climate changes. We cannot reverse what happened; however, we can adapt with the situation. What we need to do is to stop any further negative results and prepare capable human capacity to lead the coming phase. We need to adopt a phase that is based on partnership with nature," he added.

Low Carbon Economy

Dr. Mohammed Al Seirafi, UN Representative, said, "After long years of negotiations and talks, experts have identified most issues related to environment and offered new solutions. We have now an agreement that might stand as a base for further negotiations. Some of unresolved issues have been decided. Although I do not take part in negotiations, I advise negotiators to make their decisions based on the international vision. There is no time for local solutions. It is for the best to think universally. Once we have found a solution for the world, local problems can be easily resolved.

At the end of the contest, financial rewards were distributed to the winning families of the first three prizes: 5,000 QR, 3000 QR, and 2,000 QR. 

Appreciation certificates were distributed to the families which did not win. All participants received honorary shields and appreciation certificates. The conference of the competition recommended granting the participants and winners home plants from Al Wakra Municipality in an attempt to encourage them to protect the environment.

The competition had certain rules for participants: the participation had to be in Arabic, each family member presents a certain topic in 3 minutes. They should mention the following: introduction, possible consequences, solutions and recommendations. They need to be reasonable and objective. The results are final and incontestable.  

QC inaugurated the competition in cooperation with Friends of the Environment Center and Al Wakra Municipality so as to raise the social awareness about global warming and climate change. The inauguration was on the same ay of Qatar Environment Day. QC held this competition to encourage taking care of the environment and climate where people live. Global warming can cause great problems to humans. There also other universal and climate issues that would hold researchers responsible.
