The ceremony's schedule of events included the display of a film about the achievements of QC in Kosovo since the opening of its office there, a speech delivered by the orphans, nasheeds, folklore acts, recitation of a poem, entertainment acts, and distribution of gifts and rewards.

On the sideline of the ceremony, Mr. Maher commended QC's role in taking care of orphans and human development in Kosovo. In addition, Mr. Emri thanked QC for the efforts it continuously exerts and highlighted the fields of cooperation Kosovo and QC cover. "We work together to alleviate the sufferings of the needy people. We thank QC for its hard work to achieve sustainable development in the Kosovan society," he added.

In his welcoming speech, Mr. Mahmoud Shaker commended the local authorities for their help in facilitating the work of humanitarian actors allowing them to easily implement the projects. "We certainly thank the Qatari philanthropists who donated to help the vulnerable groups around the world. May Allah reward them the double and bless them for the great charity they give," said he.

The total number of sponsored orphans in Kosovo is more than 1,600 orphans. QC provides them financial sponsorship; and holds for them health, entertainment and education activities; and periodic sports and educational events.

Distinguished Projects

It is worth mentioning that QC had already implemented several projects in Kosovo; one of which is the establishment of Qatar Center for Training: it is one of the best training centers in Pristina, the Capital. It offers multiple language courses such as Arabic, English, Turkish and French; different computer, programming and designing courses; and administrative and human development courses.  It received a universally accredited license to train people on using Autodesk programs. These programs are specialized in architecture, urban planning, mechanical engineering, decor, design, media design, animation and simulation. Students who join the center receive a universally accredited certificate in programming.

In coordination with Qatari embassies, QC's offices around the world recently organized events and activities on Qatar Sports Day. Thousands of sponsored orphans participated. In Kosovo, 150 orphans participated in the activities which included skiing, bowling, billiards, weight lifting and other sports. The orphans showed great happiness and excitement and wished for Qatar to be more prosperous and advanced.

Awards

QC's sponsored orphans around the world reached more than 92,000 orphans in 30 different countries. QC offers them food, medication, education and shelter. It also helps them improve their skills and supports their families. In addition, QC contributes to empowering them economically so that they would live a dignified life. During last year only, more than 181,000,000 QR were spent on this category of people. QC aspires to sponsor 100,000 orphans, making it the most sponsoring country for orphans worldwide.

In 2015, QC received for the second year on the row Al Sanabil Award for Community Responsibility. The ceremony was held in Al Manama, capital of Bahrain.

QC was chosen from the category of community initiatives which serve the field of orphans' sponsorship across the Gulf. The winning initiative was 'Rofaqa' that is adopted by QC. After a close review of its work by a specialized committee, the award was granted to QC.
