Qatar Charity opens ‘Ezdehar’, an incubator for initiatives and volunteering

The CEO of Qatar Charity Yousef bin Ahmed al-Kuwari inaugurated Ezdehar, an incubator for initiatives and volunteering, in the presence of the President of the Pioneers for Voluntary Work and President of the Arab Federation for Voluntary Activities (AFVA) Dr. Yousef Ali Al Kathim and Mr. Youssef Al-Muftah, who is one of the pioneers in volunteering, in addition to Qatar Charity’s officials and volunteers. This is part of Qatar Charity’s keenness to engage volunteers in humanitarian and development services.

Ezdehar aims to sponsor voluntary initiatives and events, provide advice on volunteering, promote the culture of volunteering in the community, channel the energies of youth towards charity and community work, and bring together eminent initiatives under one umbrella, in addition to promoting innovation and creativity in the community, and providing a database of initiatives and volunteers.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Faisal Rashid AlFehaida, CEO’s Assistant for the Local Programs and Community Development Sector at Qatar Charity, expressed his delight with the inauguration of Ezdehar.

"Due to a large turnout of volunteers registering through Qatar Charity's website for volunteering, and their great desire to participate in the events and activities implemented by Qatar Charity, we deemed it necessary to find a place for the volunteers to facilitate their work and programs daily, contribute to acquainting them with the work and culture of Qatar Charity, better use their efforts, promote a sense of belonging among them, and link them with partners from the public and private sectors to engage them in major activities and events,” said AlFehaida. He indicated that the number of volunteers registered with Qatar Charity has reached more than 25,000 volunteers.

Ms. Fatima Jumah AlMohannadi, Head of the Initiatives and Volunteering section at Qatar Charity, delivered an introductory presentation on the objectives and policy of Ezdehar. She said that the incubator will provide a harmonious youth environment to attract initiatives and volunteers, as well as will provide a place to facilitate their work and programs and integrate them with Qatar Charity's culture through training and supporting.

Through the presentation, she explained the areas of initiatives attracted by the incubator, which are in line with the goals of Qatar Charity, those of Qatar National Vision 2030, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. She pointed to the terms and conditions for accepting initiatives, noting that the criteria include the necessity of full commitment, seriousness in implementing the initiative project, and clarity of the idea and the plan, in addition to meeting the deadline.

Dr. Yousef Ali Al Kathim, President of the Pioneers for Voluntary Work and President of the Arab Federation for Voluntary Activities, emphasized the importance of opening the incubator, indicating that it is one of the important projects in the State of Qatar. He added that the message of volunteering is one of the most important messages in societies worldwide. He added that Qatar is one of the leading countries in spreading the culture of voluntary work, explaining that the opportunity is available for everyone to contribute to their initiatives through Qatar Charity.

Mr. Youssef Al-Muftah, who is one of the pioneers in volunteering, praised this initiative of Qatar Charity, indicating that is an opportunity to discover the potentials of volunteers in all areas of voluntary work, hoping that this incubator will contribute to instilling the values of voluntary work in children as well.
