Qatar Charity supports displaced Yemenis to face the winter cold

12/16/2024

Thanks to the generosity of the Qatari peoples, the "How Long?" campaign launched by Qatar Charity to address the dangers of the 2024-2025 winter season has provided essential assistance to those in need. As part of the campaign, approximately 750 food baskets have been distributed to the most vulnerable families and displaced persons in the Taiz governorate, benefiting over 5,200 people.

The assistance provided will help the humanitarian suffering of the targeted families, who have been enduring the ongoing crisis in Yemen for the past nine years, compounded by the suspension of salaries, rising living costs, and the harsh winter cold that has exacerbated their hardships. The food baskets contain essential staple items and are enough to support a family for one month.

The families receiving aid expressed their deep gratitude, highlighting the timely support they received. Mrs. Mariam Hassan Abdul Wahab, a widow and displaced mother of three daughters, including one with special needs, shared, "The food basket came at a time when we needed it most. It has eased my burdens, especially as I live under difficult conditions with my daughters."

Muqaddad Ghaleb Qahtan, another beneficiary, praised the initiative, saying, "We are deeply grateful to the donors in Qatar and Qatar Charity for this assistance. It arrived just as the cold winter set in."

Abdullah Mohammed Ghaleb, another recipient, emphasized the significance of such efforts, saying, "The ongoing crisis and severe economic conditions have made life unbearable. We thank Qatar Charity for their support and hope these initiatives continue, as they bring much-needed relief."

Mrs. Umm al-Rahman Abdullah, a mother in need, expressed, "This aid has alleviated the daily struggles of life, especially in the face of severe cold and the lack of basic necessities for my family."
Last month, Qatar Charity launched the "How Long" campaign to address the challenges of the 2024-2025 winter season. With an estimated budget of 72 million Qatari riyals, the campaign aims to provide humanitarian assistance in 25 countries, including Qatar, focusing on areas impacted by crises and disasters, particularly Palestine, Syria, Sudan, and Yemen.
