Qatar Charity partners with Mauritania’s Ministry of Vocational Training

Qatar Charity (QC) signed a partnership agreement with Mauritania’s Ministry of Vocational Training, Handicrafts, and Crafts to establish a framework for cooperation in vocational training and economic empowerment for vulnerable and needy groups.

The agreement was signed by the Ministry’s Secretary-General, Mr. Amadi Ould Taleb and Qatar Charity Mauritania office’s director, Omer Mohamed Abdelaziz, under the supervision of the Minister of Vocational Training, Handicrafts and Crafts, Mohamed Maelainine Ould Eyih, and Qatar Charity Mauritania office’s General Supervisor, Mr. Turki Mohd AlSubaey.

The agreement aims to strengthen the relations between the Qatari and Mauritanian peoples, support the government's efforts in Mauritania in the fields of vocational training and economic empowerment, and address the basic needs of vulnerable groups in accordance with national strategies. It focuses on cooperation in the areas of training, rehabilitation, and capacity building for targeted individuals and families, alongside economic empowerment projects to improve living conditions and secure sustainable livelihoods.

Following the agreement signing, Minister Mohamed Maelainine Ould Eyih commended Qatar’s efforts in Mauritania, which focused on enhancing development in the country and strengthening the relations between the peoples of both countries. He expressed the Ministry's satisfaction with the partnership with Qatar Charity, highlighting their shared commitment to vocational training and economic empowerment for vulnerable populations. The Minister pledged the Ministry's full cooperation to ensure efficient and effective outreach to targeted groups.

Mr. Turki Mohd AlSubaey, General Supervisor of Qatar Charity's Mauritania office, expressed his gratitude to the Minister for his unwavering commitment to this partnership. He lauded the Ministry's efforts and plans in vocational training and the social solidarity economy. He reaffirmed Qatar Charity's dedication to cooperation and coordination to achieve shared goals, the most important of which is to elevate the socio-economic standards of vulnerable communities by providing them with essential vocational skills and tools. He emphasized that Qatar Charity, in collaboration with the Ministry, seeks to achieve these goals through income-generating projects.

Qatar Charity’s humanitarian and development interventions in Mauritania date back to 1996 through partnerships with non-governmental organizations, preceding the establishment of its Nouakchott office. Since then, it has successfully implemented numerous development and social projects in the fields of water and sanitation, healthcare, education, income-generating, relief, sponsorship, and social welfare.
