With the support of the generous people of Qatar, and as part of its Ramadan campaign "Giving Live On" Qatar Charity organized the largest Iftar table on the first day of the holy month in the Gaza Strip. This initiative aims to alleviate the suffering of displaced families, the most vulnerable groups, and orphaned families due to their dire living conditions, while also instilling a sense of compassion and solidarity.
A Major Challenge
The grand Iftar event was held in the neighborhoods of Zeitoun in the central Gaza Governorate and Shuja'iyya in the eastern part of the governorate. More than 7,000 individuals benefited from the ready-to-eat Iftar meals distributed in the surrounding areas. The Iftar table is part of the Iftar project that Qatar Charity carries out throughout the month of Ramadan in the Gaza Strip. The project distributes food baskets and ready-to-eat meals, providing vital support to many displaced families struggling due to resource scarcity and rising food prices, caused by limited commercial and humanitarian supply flows into the region. According to UN reports, over 90% of Gaza’s population is experiencing severe food insecurity.
Positive Impact
The Iftar event also included spiritual and recreational segments, offering an opportunity for families, relatives, and neighbors to connect at the start of the holy month. It left a positive impression and a sense of relief among the participants.
Qatar Charity’s "Giving Live On" campaign for the current season (1446 AH – 2025 AD) is supported by generous people in 40 countries, including Qatar. The campaign targets 4.5 million beneficiaries in need. The focus is on Gaza and countries suffering from ongoing crises and their negative consequences. The seasonal projects to be implemented in the Gaza Strip include Iftar, Eid Clothing, and Zakat Al-Fitr. More than 250,000 people are expected to benefit from these initiatives.
