Qatar Charity Supports the Most Vulnerable Groups in Djibouti

With the generous support of Qatari People, Qatar Charity has launched a relief and development aid project in Djibouti to assist the most vulnerable groups. The project was inaugurated under the patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs and Solidarity, Ms. Aloha Ismail Abdo, and in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Djibouti, Dr. Rashid bin Shafi' Al-Marri. Also attending were the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Women and Family, Ms. Anisa Hassan Bahdon; the Head of Humanitarian Interventions at Qatar Charity, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Janahi; and the Director of Qatar Charity’s office, Ms. Ghada Ezz Al-Din. The project is expected to benefit 30,000 people. The initiative aims to support needy families, orphans, and widows, while also contributing to the economic empowerment of youth through job creation. It further seeks to strengthen vital sectors such as education and healthcare, thereby promoting the principle of sustainable development. Aid Provided by the Project The relief and development aid project includes a wide range of support items, such as hundreds of refugee tents, 2,900 water filters, and 300 water filtration devices specifically for refugees. Additionally, the project provides 900 solar-powered lamps, 900 kitchen utensil sets, 200 sewing machines, 100 electronic wheelchairs, and 600 manual wheelchairs. It also includes 120 three-wheeled tuk-tuk vehicles, 1,000 school desks and chairs, among other items designed to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable segments of society. A Valuable Contribution In her speech at the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Social Affairs and Solidarity Ms. Aloha Ismail Abdo stated, “The relief and development products project implemented by Qatar Charity stands as a testament to the deep cooperation between the Djiboutian government and international humanitarian partners, particularly Qatar Charity.” She added, “This event comes just one week after the signing of a partnership agreement between the Ministry of Social Affairs and Solidarity and Qatar Charity, reflecting a swift response and a strong humanitarian commitment.” She extended her sincere thanks and appreciation to Qatar Charity for this generous donation, which embodies fruitful cooperation and effective solidarity between the Ministry and its partners in the pursuit of shared humanitarian goals. The Minister concluded by emphasizing that “this project carries significant importance, especially for our most vulnerable citizens, as it provides them with essential tools to gradually emerge from fragility and empowers them to build a more stable future.” She added, “This valuable contribution will enable us to respond swiftly to the needs of local communities, as identified during our recent social convoy to the country's interior regions.” For her part, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Women and Family, Ms. Anisa Hassan Bahdon, stressed that empowering widowed women and integrating them into society is one of the Ministry’s top priorities. She noted that such projects contribute to enhancing women’s economic independence and improving the living standards of beneficiary families. Social Inclusion Mr. Ibrahim Al-Janahi, Head of Humanitarian Interventions at Qatar Charity, stated, “This project is of great importance to the most vulnerable social groups, especially persons with disabilities, as it provides them with essential equipment that facilitates mobility and enhances their daily quality of life.” He emphasized that “this support reflects Qatar Charity’s commitment to achieving full social inclusion for this segment of society and to providing an environment that enables them to live with dignity and independence.” He further explained that the project is not limited to offering relief aid but also includes initiatives to create job opportunities for youth, thereby contributing to the improved living conditions of beneficiary families.

With a practical design and an easy-to-use screen, the “Tap to Donate' device is strategically placed in key locations such as shopping malls, hospitals, pharmacies, cafés, fuel stations, and sports clubs, aiming to reach the widest possible audience in their daily environments. Qatar Charity's suite of innovative solutions also includes Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, offering a highly convenient way for individuals to donate directly through their smartphones. Smart tags embedded with NFC chips are strategically installed on devices placed in restaurants, cafés, health centers, and mosques, allowing users to easily access a direct link to the donation page when their phone is brought near the tag. Besides, Qatar Charity's updated mobile app simplifies the donation process—enabling users to browse charitable projects, choose their preferred payment method, and contribute to humanitarian causes with ease. Qatar Charity inaugurates sewing workshop to empower vulnerable families in Mauritania
Qatar Charity (QC), in cooperation with Mauritania’s Ministry of Vocational Training, Handicrafts, and Crafts, has inaugurated a new sewing workshop in Nouakchott to benefit graduates of vocational training programs, who come from underprivileged families. The inauguration was attended by Mr. Amady Ould Taleb, Secretary-General of the Ministry, H.E. Mr. Fahad Al Dosari, Chargé d'Affaires at the Qatari Embassy, Mr. Omer Abdelaziz Mohamed, director of Qatar Charity’s Mauritania Branch, and Mr. Ibrahim Ould Abibakar, Director of the Technical and Vocational School. The Ministry’s Secretary-General, Mr. Amady Ould Taleb, stated that the inauguration of the sewing workshop reflects a “fruitful partnership with Qatar Charity” focused on vocational training and economic empowerment for vulnerable families. He added that the government's emphasis on vocational training underscores the importance of the workshop, the beneficiaries’ need for it, and the necessity of ensuring its effective use. Mr. Omer Abdelaziz Mohamed, director of Qatar Charity’s Mauritania Branch, expressed gratitude for the partnership with the Ministry of Vocational Training. Qatar Charity implements life-saving medical initiatives for children, the elderly in Bangladesh
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare services for the most vulnerable, Qatar Charity (QC) has executed a series of impactful medical initiatives in Bangladesh. These included a specialized medical camp for children with congenital heart defects, a dedicated campaign offering cardiac catheterization procedures for adults and the elderly, and the provision of medical aid and wheelchairs to various hospitals and healthcare centers in the country. Pediatric Camp Qatar Charity organized its fourth pediatric medical camp in Bangladesh to treat congenital heart defects in children, during which 110 life-saving cardiac catheterization procedures were performed for children from underprivileged families. The week-long camp was held at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in the capital, Dhaka. The medical team was led by a group of distinguished specialists, including Professor Muhammad Numan from the University of Texas in the USA; Professor Iyad Al-Amouri, a pediatric cardiologist at the Jordan University Hospital; Dr. Rajab Al-Sayed, a cardiac catheterization expert at King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Saudi Arabia; Dr. Hassan Ismail, a pediatric anesthesia specialist from Palestine; and Mr. Abdullah Ashkanani, Head Technician at the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Hamad Hospital in Qatar. Their efforts were supported by a dedicated team of local and international medical professionals, ensuring the success of the humanitarian mission. First-Ever Campaign Qatar Charity also launched its first-ever medical campaign dedicated to treating adults and the elderly in need of cardiac catheterization. Held at Shamarita Medical College Hospital in Dhaka, the initiative resulted in 25 life-saving procedures. The campaign was led by Dr. Abdul Rahman Arabi, a cardiac catheterization consultant at Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar, and was carried out in collaboration with a team of skilled local specialists, ensuring high-quality care for the patients. Bangladeshi government officials praised the initiative, highlighting its profound humanitarian impact. Mr. Md. Daud Miah, Director General of the NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh commended Qatar Charity for its vital role in providing healthcare to those in need. He stated, “I encourage other NGOs in Bangladesh to follow this inspiring example,” extending his gratitude to the people of Qatar for their generosity and unwavering support for vulnerable communities. Critical Need Dr. Ashik Mohammad Raihan, a pediatric cardiologist at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital, emphasized the critical need for specialized cardiac care for children in the country. “In Bangladesh, around 25 out of every 1,000 children are born with congenital heart disease. One-third of them require urgent intervention within their first year of life, yet nearly 80% of families are unable to bear the cost of treatment,” he explained. The parents of the children expressed their deep gratitude and immense relief for receiving free treatment for their children. Rahima Begum, a mother of 4-year-old Nazat, said: 'I never imagined my daughter would receive treatment at a hospital of this level, by doctors from other countries. This is not just treatment; it's a miracle for our family.' Medical Aid In the same context, Qatar Charity distributed 700 manual and electric wheelchairs, along with 1,212 blood pressure monitoring devices, to various hospitals and healthcare centers in Bangladesh, supporting the enhancement of healthcare services and meeting the needs of patients. Previous Camps It is worth mentioning that Qatar Charity had previously organized three medical camps for children with congenital heart problems in Bangladesh. The first camp took place in May 2022, benefiting 31 children. The second camp was held in August 2022, benefiting 130 children, while the third intervention occurred in February 2024, benefiting 100 children.
