QC has offered instant relief due to the recent wave of snowfall in many areas of Tunisia. It has provided the schools with heating devices, equipped kitchens, and distributed winter clothes and blankets to students.
As a part of the national campaign launched by the Tunisian Ministry of Education to support the snow-covered areas in northwest and western Tunisia, QC has distributed winter clothing, blankets and heating equipment, benefiting about 100 thousand students. It has also maintained 250 schools.
Through its intervention in Tunisia, QC has aimed at improving the school atmosphere, developing, restoring and furnishing school restaurants to provide hot and healthy meals to students to help them cope with these difficult climatic conditions.
Various Aid
Mr. Faisal Al-Faheeda, QC’s Executive Director of Operations said that QC has made great efforts to mitigate the impact of the snow wave that has hit several areas in Tunisia. "As a part of the national campaign launched by the Tunisian Ministry of Education to support educational facilities, QC has provided humanitarian aid including distributing blankets, equipment, and heating devices in the first phase. The second phase of offering aid has included developing and furnishing the kitchens of hundreds of schools in different areas of Tunisia, which benefited thousands of students, directly and indirectly. In addition, we have distributed gas stoves and high quality refrigeration units. It positively has had an effect concerning improving the school atmosphere in the most needy areas,” he added.
Stressing that QC’s projects in Tunisia will continue to support the development in Tunisia and provide assistance to the needy people, Al-Faheeda, on behalf of QC, thanked the generous donors in Qatar and the Tunisian government for the facilitation and cooperation that contributes to the easy implementation of the Humanitarian Institutions Projects.
Thanks and appreciation
The Tunisian Ministry of Education celebrated the National Day of Associations in the school district and under the direct supervision of His Excellency the Minister of Education, in recognition of the efforts exerted to support the campaign. The campaign to which QC has significantly and effectively contributed at various levels was led by the Ministry to confront the cold weather.
Ongoing Efforts
It is worth mentioning that the coordination between QC and the Ministries of Education, Agriculture and Health is ongoing. Moreover, QC works to provide rural schools with drinking water to support the Ministry's efforts in offering a healthy and appropriate school environment and fighting diseases including viral hepatitis through drilling wells for 30 schools in different states. They are equipped with solar panels, purifiers to filter water, and tanks for storage and distribution in accordance with the health specifications. The program will also help spread the project of school villages launched by the Ministry of Education in all schools.
Following the conditions booklet provided by the Ministry of Education in Sidi Aich, Blidet, Sahli, Rawawna, and Fraiha, QC has also built schools of high quality which contributed to alleviating the trouble of long distances and road hazards for Rural Students.
