- The mosque is built on an area of 120 m2; it has a minaret and provides drinking water for the surrounding area.
Soul Riders for motorcycles in Qatar donated around 87,000 QR for the establishment of a mosque and the drilling of a well in Bangladesh.
Mr. Khaled Al Hammadi, Founder of Soul Riders, presented the donations on behalf of the team to Mr. Nayef Al Rumihi, Public Affairs Head of Board of Directors at QC. The mosque will be built on an area of 120 m2 consisting of a furnished room for prayer, a minaret, a loudspeaker, 3 toilets and a place for wudu. In addition, a well will be drilled to provide drinking water. It has a manual pump.
Mr. Al Hammad said, "The donations were the outcome of the third charity exhibition for motorcycles and classical cars which was recently organized by the team in Qatar. Soul Riders chose QC because the team wishes to provide drinking water to the needy people of Bangladesh and to support QC's humanitarian projects around the world."
He also pointed to the fact that it was not the first time for the team to work with QC and it would not be the last. The team members are working on expanding their partnership with QC to serve and help develop the Qatari community in particular, and humanitarian work in general. "Soul Riders are willing to pay field visits in coordination with QC to shed more light on the importance of relieving others and offering humanitarian aids," he added.
After receiving the donations, QC, represented by Al Ruimihi, granted Soul Riders, represented by Mr. Al Hammad, the society's shield as an appreciation for their efforts, their hard work to help the needy and their attempts to introduce humanitarian and charity work through their events.
In return, Soul Riders granted QC a certificate of appreciation to commend its innovative role in charity work. QC is the true face of Qatar and its work and worldwide projects reflect that very clearly. It implements projects through its field offices and international, regional and local partners.
Follow their Steps
Mr. Al Rumihi thanked Soul Riders team for their nice gesture which would encourage athletes and youth to be more involved in voluntary work. "We hope we would further cooperate with Soul Riders and other similar groups of the society," he said.
Because of the deep need for raising religious awareness, the project of building a mosque was implemented. In addition, drilling a well was very necessary to limit the spread of diseases resulting from polluted water. The donors wanted to contribute to increasing the number of people who go to pray at mosques and to raise awareness about the regulations of Islam in Bangladesh. They also hoped to help protect poor people from polluted water and wanted to offer them clean water.
QC's office in Bangladesh will supervise the construction work of the mosque and the drilling of the well. It is expected for the project to be finished within a year from its date of implementation.
It is worth mentioning that Soul Riders for motorcycles had already donated for 'Before it Freezes' campaign which QC inaugurated for the displaced Syrians and refugees. The campaign was launched at the same time of storms that hit the area and caused the death of many and destruction of properties.
This time's donations were allocated for the building of caravans so as to shelter the displaced families inside Syria. These families do not have a place to live in; they suffer from winter and its cold weather. The sufferance of the displaced exacerbated after the recent snow storms.
"Before it Freezes"
QC seeks to collect 60,000,000 QR to implement more projects to build caravans for the affected people. Its main object is to offer a better shelter for Syrians. Their tents are easily affected by winter, rain and snow. It also aspires to distribute blankets, clothes, heating devices and food aids to the beneficiaries.
QC encourages all philanthropists and good-doers in Qatar to take part in this campaign and donate either with money or in-kind supplies. Such help is for the relief of the Syrian people whose suffering has been exacerbating because of the thunder storms which are hitting the area.
