Winter is approaching, and vulnerable communities are yet again to be left out alone facing the blistering cold. For many of us, winter time is a reminiscent of joy and a synonym for family warmth as we sit inside looking at the sight of the peaceful scenery of snowflakes and staring at the cheerful raindrops on the window glass.
However, for hundreds of thousands of refugees and displaced people out there, it is not really the case while living in a field of mud and tattered tents. For them it will be their eighth consecutive winter in displacement, living in flimsy tents and overcrowded camps and makeshift settlements. For many refugees and displaced persons winter stands as a synonym for bottomless misery and dire lack of essential needs. There will be a severe shortage of fuel, food, shelter and clothes, children will starve, sick people will not be able to access medical assistance, and many families will sleep in the open air.
Vulnerable people like women, children and the elderly are the first to be affected by the freezing cold and low temperatures. Their lives will be at risk if no prompt actions are taken to help.
Join Qatar Charity this winter to save the lives of thousands of refugees and displaced persons across the globe. Support the Below Zero campaign and please donate to help vulnerable displaced families survive the cold as we work to provide them with Food baskets, blankets, heaters, medical assistance and proper shelter.
