QC Implements Relief Projects

The aids are sufficient for the refugees and returnees for a month

Through its office in Somalia and as part of its relief campaign “Yemen, We are With You”, QC implemented an urgent relief project which targeted 600 families of the Yemeni refugees in Somalia and some of the Somali returnees from Yemen who are living in Mogadishu, Hargeisa, and Bosaso.

The food baskets, distributed to the beneficiaries, were sufficient for a whole month. Each family received 25 kg of rice, 25 kg of flour, 15 kg of sugar, 3 liters of cooking oil, 2.5 kg of powder milk, and 2 kg of dates.

Prominent Figures

Many prominent figures took part in the distribution of the aids to the people, including some members of the Somali parliament, and the representatives of the Yemeni community in Somalia. They all commended QC’s role in helping the Yemeni and Somali peoples.

This is one of so many other projects in which QC continues to fulfill its role in aiding and helping others. In addition, QC always makes sure that its beneficiaries are the neediest. The Yemeni people are suffering from a dire crisis which forced the families to emigrate and ask for asylum. This, of course, left the families without any living necessities.

Although Somalia is suffering from hard conditions and security issues, it became one of the countries which received the Yemeni refugees. Therefore, it is now the responsibility of those who work in charity and humanitarian fields to strengthen their efforts so that Somalia does not suffer from a critical condition, too.

130,000 Beneficiaries

130,000 beneficiaries benefited from QC’s continuous campaign ‘Yemen, We Are with You’ since the recent Yemen crisis started and until the end of last May (2015).

The food aid included 17,300 food baskets, 80 tons of flour, and 180 tons of different types of food which were distributed to the different governorates. Furthermore, 3 kitchens were prepared and equipped with foodstuff to provide daily fresh meals for 1,000 persons. Regarding healthcare, the hospitals of Aden, Ma’rib, and Taiz were supplied with some equipment, 100 first-aid bags, and a large amount of medications, and medical disposables.

In addition, 8 water tanks were distributed in Aden with the capacity of 1,000 liters. QC also distributed hundreds of mattresses and blankets to the displaced families there. Another project was funded to clean Aden Municipality in cooperation with its workers.

Call for Help

It is worth mentioning that when the Yemeni crisis started, QC appealed for help to provide 1,260,000 conflict-affected people with food, and medications.

After its appeal and as a first step, QC launched its campaign ‘Yemen, We Are with You’ to collect 36,500,000 QR (10,000,000 USD) to urgently deliver these humanitarian aids to the most affected categories.

QC also supervised the distribution of aids which Qatar sent to the people of Yemen. The aids were delivered through an air bridge from Doha to Djibouti–Ambouli International Airport following the instructions of his highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, God bless him. The aids were delivered over two days; there were 4 airplanes which carried 240 tons of different materials.

The aids were received by a delegation of QC which included Mr. Ibrahim Ali Abdullah, QC's Relief Department Director, and Mohammed Wa'i, QC's Office Director in Yemen.

QC’s field team was able to aid many conflict-affected families since the crisis first started in Aden and other Yemeni cities. They provided the families with food, drugs, and medical disposables. They sent the medical supplies to the hospitals so that they would treat the injured. The team also provided the families with food baskets and other basic and necessary items.

QC Implements ‘Kiswit Eid’ (Ei

QC focused on the countries suffering from exceptional circumstance such as Palestine, Syria and Yemen
El Kuwairi, “‘Kiswit Eid’ project aims at making the orphans happy, especially that it’s Eid”.

In 33 different countries, 1,750 orphans enjoyed the Eid and became more hopeful for a better future thanks to Rofaqa initiative, one of QC’s initiatives.

This project is one of so many others which QC works hard to implement so as to bring joy and happiness to the hearts of its sponsored children in Eid Al Adha.

Love & Care

Countries which suffer from exceptional circumstances were focused on such as Palestine, Syria and Yemen. These countries’ orphans need all the love and care one can possibly offer. They suffer every single day that any ray of hope could be very useful to them.

However, QC did not forget about the orphans elsewhere. It’s project was implemented in India, Jordan, Philippine, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Iraq, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Indonesia, the Comoros, Kyrgyzstan, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Mauritania, Kenya, Morocco, Chat, Mali, Benin, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Ghana, Togo, Niger, Bosnia, Albania, Kosovo, Sudan and Tunisia.

‘Eid Clothing’ campaign covered the orphans’ different needs. It included getting them shoes, and presents (based on their age and gender): shirts and pants for the boys, and dresses and shoes for the girls. More than 550 orphans benefited from the project.

Values of Mercy

Mr. Youssif Bin Ahmed Al Kuwairi, QC’s CEO, said, “We, at QC, made sure to prioritize the orphans, and pay extra attention to them. QC does its best to provide them with the necessary care they need. Plus, we all know that the reward our religion promises to those who sponsor orphans is great.”

He, then, added, “‘Eid Clothing’ initiative is only a means to compensate for their loss. Yes, it is not like parental love and care; however, QC works hard to make the orphans feel like they’re a part of something, a family. We know how important it is to stand by these orphans’ side; which is why supporting them is a priority.”

Through its ‘Rofaqa’ initiative, QC inaugurated ‘Eid Clothing’ campaign for the benefit of its sponsored orphans. The number of sponsored orphans from 31st of December 2013 until today reached 39,057 orphans from 35 different countries the world over.

Similar Projects

At the same time QC implemented ‘Eid Clothing’ project, it implemented ‘Your Sacrifice, their Eid’ campaign. Through this campaign, QC was able to provide 28,100 sacrifices (of bulls and sheep) in 54 countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe at a cost of 13,560,000) QR.

As for the Hajj season, QC implemented many projects which included ‘Substitute Hajj’, ‘Feeding Pilgrims’ and ‘Grouping Pilgrims’. Thanks to QC, 1,500 pilgrims performed substitute hajj at a cost of 5,700,000 QR. It also grouped 16 pilgrims at a cost of 152,000 QR and provided 25,000 meals for the pilgrims.

Comprehensive Care:

QC sponsors around 80,000 orphans from 35 countries. It offers them comprehensive care which includes education, health, shelter and other basics.

‘Rofaqa’ Initiative is a unique humanitarian initiative which is interested in helping orphans worldwide. It aims at reaching a complementary level of care for children and orphans. It wishes to offer a new vision based on comprehensive care to include social, educational, health and psychological aspects. ‘Rofaqa’ initiative, which was inaugurated in December 2013, was able to sponsor 39,057 orphans so far.

QC Prepares for the Launch of

QC finished filming the third edition of its reality TV show 'One Heart' near the Turkey-Syria borders. Several famous people were in the show such as Dr. Salman Al Ouda and a group of media, dawa and sports stars from Qatar, the Gulf and the Arab World. The show will be displayed during the coming Ramadan 1437 AH.

"One Heart" TV show aims at introducing the humanitarian issues to the public, and attracting support in a spiritual and exciting manner. It will include lots of adventures and surprises. It also presents solutions in a creative way.

Awen Initiative

This year, the program focused on the sufferings of the Syrian refugees, considering their issue the greatest of all disasters around the world. The members visited the refugees' camps near the Turkey-Syria borders in multiple areas of Ghazi, Gaziantep, Antakya, Kilis and others. In cooperation and coordination with the regional partners of QC there, the teams paid multiple visits to QC's projects in Turkey which target this group of people.

The program also sought to show Turkey's huge role, as a country and people, in taking care of and sheltering the Syrian refugees. Turkey offered them relief aids, medications and free education. It also established camps for them. Turkey is considered the country with the biggest number of Syrian refugees; i.e. an average of more than 3,000,000 refugees found across the different Turkish cities and territories.

During the show, Dr. Al Ouda and the participants spoke about Awen Initiative for the Empowerment and Development of Syrian Refugees which was recently released by QC. They clarified the different aspects of this initiative; especially relating to improving charity work and moving it from relief aids stage to become sustainable development. It aims at improving the Syrians' capabilities and training them so as to work and become financially independent. This way, a healthy society would be built, clear of any social diseases which had broken many societies apart.

The activities which showed the great efforts of the participating teams were related to displaying the success stories of the Syrian refugees in Turkey. Some of them became merchants, others became employees; some others worked in agriculture, raising cattle and other arts and crafts.

The Three Teams

In addition to Sheikh Salman Ouda, the number of participants reached around 15 figures divided into 3 teams. The first is: 'Al Karama (White) Team' and consists of Uqeil Jinahi, a Journalist; Firas AlKhatib, International Football Player; Mohammed Abbas, Munshid; Mohammed Al Barak, Quran Reciter; and Siwar Al Thahab, Sports Commentator.

The second team is 'Al Nakhwa (Green) Team': Sheikh Khaled Abu Mooza, a Journalist, Preacher and a Businessman; Yehya Hawa, a Munshid; Ali Al Ghatayen, a Poet; Nasser Al Weiber, a Poet; and Mohammed Sa'don Al Kuwairi, QC's Ambassador and a Journalist.

The third team is 'Al Himma (Blue) Team': Nasser Al Khalifi, a Journalist; Ibrahim Al Naqib, a Munshid; Sabbah Al Kuwairi, a Journalist; Nayef Al Sharhan, a Munshid; and Adel Lami, an International Football Player.

The Earlier Seasons

"One Heart 3" is distinguished with the variety of activities it presents. The 3 teams met with orphans, people with disabilities, widows, elderly and tens of other humanitarian cases. They were interested in educational, health, shelter, economic empowerment, social care and income-generating projects implemented specially for the refugees.

Through the show, invitations will be sent for participation and donations through QC's channels such as its hotline, text messages, websites and QC's bank account which will be later on announced (after receiving the necessary licenses).

The second season of One Heart was filmed in Sudan; while the first was filmed in Socotra the year before that.

QC Inaugurates 'Fallujah is Dy

QC inaugurated 'Fallujah is Dying' Campaign to help alleviate the sufferings of its people and to meet their basic needs.
The difficult humanitarian condition in Al Anbar has forced thousands to be displaced due to the shortages in their basic needs of water, food, medications and covers.

QC inaugurated a relief campaign for the Iraqi city, Fallujah, which targets helping 120,000 people. The campaign includes food baskets and medical disposables for the siege-affected and the displaced people from Anbar.

The aids include food baskets; QC seeks to distribute 10,000 baskets to the people. Each basket consists of rice, sugar, oil, tomato sauce, tea, beans, eggs, milk, yogurt, date jam, and tahini. Each basket costs 200 QR. QC also plans to distribute 10,000 medical bags, each of which costs 100 QR. They consist of towels, sterilants, toothpastes, toothbrushes, diapers, adult diapers for women, soap and washing powder.

Brotherly Duty

In a press release, Mr. Mohammed Rashid Al Ka'bi, Director of Relief Management at QC, said, "The current circumstances in Anbar are really difficult for its people considering the conditions the region has been going through for a while. Thousands were forced to leave their homes; thousands have been suffering from the shortage in the basic needs of water, food, medications and covers as reported by the UN".

He also talked about how QC launched its new campaign to alleviate the sufferings of Fallujah people and to meet their needs. In addition, he mentioned that the total cost of the campaign reached 3,000,000 QR; 2,000,000 of which were spent on food supplies and the remaining 1,000,000 were spent on the medical disposables. "As a first stage, urgent aids will be distributed at a cost of 365,000 QR," he added.

Mr. Al Ka'bi encouraged the philanthropists in Qatar to support this campaign and offer donations to support its multiple products so as to follow the commandments of Islam that encourage the Muslims to be in solidarity with their Muslim brothers and sisters. "We must stand by our brothers and sisters in Iraq," he concluded.

Continuous Relief Campaigns

It is worth mentioning that QC offered relief aids to the displaced families in Anbar in a campaign it had inaugurated at a cost of 7,500,000 QR that targeted 50,000 displaced people. The campaign served more than 3,000 people in the city. The campaign included food supplies and some basic supplies such as blankets and, sleeping and sitting mattresses. The relief campaign also offered food, water, fans, and medical supplies to more than 1,000 Iraqi families who were forced to leave Anbar due to the bad conditions there.

Through coordinating with Shams Al Rafidain Charity Organization, QC aimed at relieving the people who left Anbar and sought refuge in Baghdad. It offered urgent aids to more than 1,000 Iraqi families who were forced to leave their homes because of war and the unsafe conditions of their city. Iraqis are currently living in camps in Hayy Al Jami'a, Ghazaliya, Dora, Al A'miriya, Al Adhamiyah, Salikh, and Fadhil. Furthermore, the families took shelter at the mosques and schools. The aids to these people consisted of food, water, mattresses, fans, and medical supplies.

QC pointed out that the campaign supported the needy families, alleviated the population's intense suffering, and helped millions of people inside and outside the country in Ramadan.

The CEO of QC asserted that Qatar Charity's role is not limited to financing the projects that are being implemented and bringing the charity resources cooperating with the public sector, the private sector and the third sector in the field of social responsibility, but it is extended to education and training.

The partnerships relating to QC's Ramadan campaign 1437 AH "Your Giving Saves Lives" included the public sector, semi-governmental sector, the private and the non-profit sector. The partnerships' modalities, frameworks and outcomes included providing discounts and direct services to the beneficiaries and supporting the direct social impact projects. They also included giving the opportunity to the cooperating agencies' staff to provide the in-kind donations through the intensive campaigns conducted for the needy, providing halls and providing the infrastructure services from these agencies to QC for free. This would make it easier for these agencies to implement their programs and adopt the local moral, recreational, cultural, social and awareness-raising projects.

Campaign Programs

QC has launched its Ramadan campaign for this season under the slogan "Your Giving Saves Lives ". The total cost of the projects implemented during the holy month of Ramadan 1437 AH inside and outside Qatar exceeded QR 32.2 million, with more than 2,131,000 people expected to benefit from the campaign.

The QC campaign aims to reach 180.000 fasting people with the provision of Iftar at 24 collective tables at a total cost of about QR 9 million. The Iftar tables has reached new groups such as factory workers, farms workers, home to home Iftar, mobile Iftar, giving water to worshipers, Ramadan supplies and supporting Iftar tables for communities.

Qatar Charity Distributes Urge

44.000 People have benefited from the aids including food baskets, bread bundles and baby milk that meet their needs for a month.
The Director of Relief Management said that QC's campaign “Save Aleppo” continues to collect donations and distributes aids since last May and so far.

In light of the escalating suffering of Syrians in Aleppo due to the ongoing shelling, severe shortage of food, baby milk and basic services and as part of its ongoing campaign "Save Aleppo", Qatar Charity carries out its relief projects in Aleppo city. The campaign, which was supported by the Qatari philanthropists, has finished this month. It included distributing food baskets, bread bundles and baby milk to meet the needs of a single-family for a whole month. Nearly 44,000 people have benefited from this project, which costed more than QR 600.000.

The Burning City

The Director of Relief Management at QC, Rashid Al Kaabi said that the constant relief projects, which are implemented in Aleppo, inside Syria and in the neighboring countries hosting refugees, are supported by the Qatari benefactors and national and international donors, extending his sincere thanks to them.

Al Kaabi clarified the Aleppo is in urgent need for aids due to the aggravated circumstances in the distressed city, the ongoing bombardment of houses, hospitals, and food stores, the increased number of victims, the ongoing blockade imposed on the civilians and the lack of basic services such food, water, shelter and health services.

Al Kaabi encouraged the Qatari donors to continue supporting the “Save Aleppo” campaign, pointing out that this help is a humanitarian and brotherly duty especially in such circumstances where the distressed Syrians, whom their entire city is burning, must be aided.

The distribution of the urgent aids to the Syrians in Aleppo began last August and ended this month. The aids were distributed through two phases as follows: 4,000 food baskets were distributed to 20,000 people, bread bundles were distributed to 23,000 people and four baby milk cans were distributed to 700 children monthly. The total of beneficiaries is about 44,000 people. The food basket contained basic foodstuffs such as (rice, sugar, bulgur, pasta, lentils, cooking oil, jam and dry legumes.)

Ongoing Campaign

This aids aimed to alleviate Aleppo citizens' suffering that resulted from the acute shortage of the basic foodstuff and reduce disease proliferation resulting from malnutrition. Most of Aleppo citizens cannot secure their food due to the banditry and high prices.

Qatar Charity has launched "Save Aleppo" campaign at the beginning of May and allocated QR10m as a first batch to meet the Syrians' urgent needs.

It is worth mentioning that QC pays an important attention to Syrian people's relief as 8 million people inside and outside Syria, including the refugees and displaced people benefited from the relief projects from April 2011to May2016 with a cost of QR 450 m.
