Qatar Charity holds annual forum for its overseas offices remotely
Representatives of 34 field offices across Asia, Africa, and Europe took part in the forum.
Qatar Charity (QC) has remotely held the annual forum for its field offices in cooperation with the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA).
Mr. Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al-Dehaimi, General Manager of RACA, Mr. Youssef bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity, a good number of Qatar Charity’s officials and experts, the managers and employees of field offices in 34 countries worldwide took part in the forum.
The forum aims at enhancing coordination between the headquarters of Qatar Charity and its field offices across the globe, developing the capabilities of the employees, and strengthening the role of the field offices in coordinating at the local, governmental, and international levels.
The forum allowed the participants to discuss plans, develop work performance, share expertise and experiences, and find appropriate solutions and ways to face the challenges that may obstruct the implementation of charitable projects.
At the opening of the forum, Mr. Ibrahim Abdulla Al-Dehaimi, General Manager of RACA, underlined the importance of working jointly and coordinating between the various national bodies, including the National Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Committee (NAMLC), RACA, and private charitable societies and institutions, in intensifying efforts for preparing the joint evaluation by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). He also praised the great efforts made by Qatar Charity and its offices in distributing aid worldwide.
Mr. Youssef bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity, welcomed the representatives of RACA and Qatar Charity’s field offices, noting that Qatar Charity is keen to adhere to the laws governing charitable work in Qatar, and to work in accordance with the regulations of RACA, as well as with the rules of the countries where it operates.
Mr. Faisal Rashid Al-Fahida, Assistant CEO for the International Operations and Partnerships Sector at Qatar Charity, said that the forum was an important opportunity to enhance communication and coordination between Qatar Charity and its offices across the globe.
He also added the forum seeks to acquaint the directors of Qatar Charity’s field offices with the circulars issued by the RACA to help them carry out works according to the laws governing charitable work in Qatar, meeting the requirements of governance, compliance, transparency, and integrity, with the commitment to anti-money laundering and terrorism financing regulations.
He thanked the office directors for their continuous and tireless efforts in implementing development projects and carrying out urgent humanitarian interventions in disaster-hit areas to ease the sorrow of the sorrowful and help those in need.
Besides, many worksheets were presented by RACA to discuss the significant progress in the Qatari charitable sector, including the development of the legislative framework regulating charitable work, the issuance of many specialized technical regulatory guides that contribute to enhancing supervision and control between RACA and its bodies, in addition to discussing the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
