Qatar Charity launches fourth edition of ‘Future’s Writers’ programme

Qatar Charity has launched the fourth edition of "Future’s Writers", a programme aimed at developing the writing skills of students and nurturing talents in them.

The launch took place in a ceremony attended by representatives of key partners, officials of Qatar Charity, judges, many writers, media persons, and those interested in the cultural arena.

Significantly, the programme will allow, for the first time, students with special needs and Qatar University’s male and female students to take part in the competitive activities of the this edition to discover their hidden creative talents. The students belonging to primary and preparatory schools in Qatar can participate in the programme as usual. 

Quantum Leap Forward

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ms. Mariam Al Hammadi, Director General of the Qatari Authors’ Forum and representative of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Mr. Ali Al Kuwari, Director of the School Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Mr. Hamad Al Khulaki, Events Specialist at Qatar University, Mr. Khalid Al Dulaimi, Managing Director of Lusail Publishing and Distribution House, and Jasim Al Emadi, Director of the Local Development Department at Qatar Charity.

Speaking at the ceremony, Jasim Al Emadi, Director of the Local Development Department at Qatar Charity, said, “The Future’s Writers” programme moves ahead constantly and confidently, improving its upcoming editions in terms of quantity and quality to reach new students and nurture talents in them.”

“It also intends to hold advanced training events, and partner with relevant national parties to contribute to the service of the local community, and provide its creative arena with promising writers,” added Al Emadi.

He also emphasized that the programme, in the continuous cooperation with its partners, would take a quantum leap forward in its fourth season, allowing university students, represented by Qatar University’ students, and students with special needs to take part in its competitive activities for the first time to discover hidden writing talents in them and develop them.

This programme reflects Qatar Charity's keenness to achieve various dimensions of its local development objectives, including cultural and knowledge goals, in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030, establish, deepen and consolidate human values, promote the culture of humanitarian action among the younger generations, and strengthen its local partnerships with the relevant bodies within the framework of social responsibility, noted Al-Emadi.

]Al-Emadi praised the support and cooperation of the partners, including Ministry of Culture and Sports, Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar University, Qatari Authors’ Forum, Khair Jalees Book Club, and Lusail Publishing and Distribution House.

He also hoped that the fourth season of the programme would be crowned with success, and the programme would continue to evolve to achieve more excellence and success locally, regionally and internationally.

A Change

For her part, Mrs. Ms. Mariam Al Hammadi, Director General of the Qatari Authors’ Forum of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, underlined the importance of the "Book Future’s Writers" programme.

As part of its development projects in the local sector, Qatar Charity works to make a difference in the cultural field through this programme, as it  believes in the importance of writing to promote thinking, creativity, innovation and the development of nations, as well as, to spread ideas, values and morals, Al Hammadi noted.

Qatar Charity plays a major and distinctive role in activates meant for the local community in partnership with the relevant parties, which reflects the important role of civil society organizations in serving communities and contributing to their growth and development, Al-Hammadi added.

 She also expressed the pride of the Qatari Authors’ Forum, a new cultural body of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in this achievement, thanking Qatar Charity for its social role in accomplishing Qatar National Vision 2030 in the cultural field.

For his part, Mr. Ali Al Kuwari, Director of the School Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, said, “The Ministry is honored to sponsor this program, which aims to discover students’ literary talents in writing.”  He also thanked all partners and sponsors of the programme.

Platform to Compete

Mr. Hamad Al Khulaki, Events Specialist at Qatar University, valued the role played by Qatar Charity in promoting the voluntary work to support the culture in the community, especially in the younger generations.

 Qatar University has been participating in the various stages of the “Future’s Writers” programme since its first edition was launched, through the university’s professors and experts, as part of the community work, added Al Khulaki, pointing out the participation of university students in this edition.

The “Future’s Writers” programme contributes to supporting some extra-curricular activities of the university and enhancing the personality of the student, said Al Khulaki, noting that the programme also helps students acquire a variety of leadership skills and instills the value of social responsibility.

Mr. Khalid Al Dulaimi, Managing Director of Lusail Publishing and Distribution House, thanked Qatar Charity and the partners of the programme, including the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and the sponsor of the programme Barwa Bank, for providing this opportunity to participate in this program.

Emphasizing the importance of the programme, he said, “It is a platform that allows competition among participants to showcase their hidden talents and encourages novice writers to produce literary works, especially when they see that their written works are being printed and distributed.”

Al-Dulaimi assured that all support would be provided to this programme through printing, publishing, distributing, and translating. “Our role is to print, publish and distribute, in addition to translating the book in several languages it," he said.

“We aim to encourage and help novice authors enrich the literary and intellectual movement, discover creative talents and promising energies, and support their creative projects,” Al-Dulaimi said.
