Qatar Charity distributes food aid to coronavirus-hit households in Kosovo

Qatar Charity (QC), with the support from the benefactors in Qatar, distributed food aid to 2,000 needy families in Kosovo to help them meet their essential needs during winter in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The aid came as part of Qatar Charity’s "Warmth and Peace" campaign, in cooperation and coordination with many municipalities in Kosovo. The assistance included 2000 baskets of basic foodstuffs, in addition to blankets.

The distribution took place in the municipalities of Fushë Kosova, Skenderaj, Skenderaj, Podujeva, and Mitrovic. Taking all necessary precautions for public safety, the food baskets were delivered to the beneficiaries' homes, to prevent gathering and infection.

The beneficiaries and mayors were delighted with the aid distribution. They thanked the benefactors in Qatar for supporting the vulnerable, especially in the time of crises and risks.

The Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Bashkim Krasniqi, who participated in the aid distribution, thanked the donors in Qatar for helping the families most in need withstand tough conditions caused by the coronavirus and the severe cold.

Shaaban Huma, a beneficiary of the food aid and a breadwinner for a family of three, who lost the job due to the coronavirus, said that the assistance is a big support to him in light of these problematic circumstances. Besides, Yatun Yurdoshi, another beneficiary, was very delighted with the food aid, which provided him and his family with warmth during the harsh winter, noting that they need more aid.

It is worth noting that Qatar Charity's projects for Kosovo cover different segments of society, benefiting orphans, people with special needs and low-income families. The number of those sponsored by Qatar Charity has reached nearly 3350. In the field of education and training, more than 5,000 people have benefited from the Qatar Training Center, which was established and is run by Qatar Charity.

More than 500 income-generating projects, as well as over 1000 water and sanitation projects, have been implemented, while a housing complex has been built at an estimated cost of 12 million riyals. The complex includes 40 homes for the poor, a clinic, a community center and a school, in addition to shops and a mosque.

Qatar Charity urges benefactors in Qatar, both citizens and residents, to support its "Warmth and Peace” campaign, as the coronavirus pandemic has escalated the suffering of the vulnerable during this winter.
