Qatar Charity starts Zakat Al-Fitr distribution to Syrian refugees in Turkey
Qatar Charity (QC), as part of its ‘Ramadan of Hope’ campaign, began distributing Zakat Al-Fitr to Syrian refugee families in Turkey and the families of orphans to alleviate their suffering, especially in light of the continuing coronavirus pandemic and high unemployment rates. The Zakat Al-Fitr, which is being implemented during the last ten days of Ramadan, with the support of benefactors in Qatar, aims to deliver assistance to approximately 5,000 families to share with them the joy of Eid Al-Fitr.
The project is being implemented by distributing more than 10,300 purchasing cards, which will enable the beneficiary families to secure basic food needs.
The project focused on the Turkish cities with a larger number of Syrian refugees, who are suffering from challenging living conditions in light of the coronavirus pandemic. These cities include Istanbul, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Yozgat, Kilis and Reyhanlı.
This project coincides with the ‘Feed the Fasting’ project, which has been being implemented in many Turkish cities since the beginning of Ramadan to deliver ready-to-eat Iftar meals to orphans, needy families, the elderly, and coronavirus-hit households, in coordination and cooperation with the local municipalities.
Some 33,850 Iftar meals were distributed, in cooperation with the municipality of Uskudar in Istanbul, 39,800 Iftar meals, in cooperation with the municipality of Şahinbey in Gaziantep, 39,800 Iftar meals, in cooperation with the municipality of Şanlıurfa, and 23,050 Iftar meals, in cooperation with the municipality of Kilis, totaling 139,500 Iftar meals.
Qatar Charity urges benevolent people to support its Zakat Al-Fitr project during the remaining days of Ramadan through its website, apps, branches, and collectors to maximize the number of beneficiaries worldwide.
