Qatar Charity (QC) has been awarded the Excellence Award (Islamic Social Responsibility) 2023, as part of the 13th Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) 2023, in Dakar, the capital of Senegal where the winners were honored in a ceremony attended by the Senegalese President Macky Sall and several senior officials and experts in the field of Islamic finance from around the world.
The award was bestowed on Qatar Charity, in recognition of its outstanding contributions to Islamic finance through various instruments like Zakat and almsgiving (Sadaqah), distributed to low-income families and other vulnerable people. In addition to Qatar Charity, three more organizations have been nominated in the same category. The award was received by Mr. Manaa Al-Ansari, Director of Field Offices at Qatar Charity.
The CEO of Qatar Charity, Mr. Yousuf bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, expressed his delight at Qatar Charity being honored with this prestigious global award, which recognizes it for its outstanding efforts in the field of social responsibility, as it serves impoverished people and communities through the assistance programs aimed at combating poverty and creating developmental impacts that make a difference in their lives.
He also pointed out that Qatar Charity has previously received other awards in the field of social responsibility, reaffirming that Qatar Charity will continue its developmental efforts worldwide as part of its humanitarian and societal duty towards vulnerable and marginalized groups and communities.
Held annually in various parts of the world, GIFA, since its inception in 2011, has been celebrating achievements and contributions of institutions and individuals towards the development and expansion of the Islamic banking and finance industry. GIFA has emerged as the most authentic market-led Islamic finance awards program in the world.
