Qatar Charity empowers 130 families economically in Somalia

Qatar Charity implemented two large projects aimed at improving the livelihoods of the neediest groups, in several areas in the cities of Mogadishu and Hargeisa in Somalia, benefiting 130 poor families, as they represent a model of Qatari humanitarian efforts in providing support. And contribute to sustainable development.

The first project owned 32 grocery stores that sell vegetables and 13 shops for needy families in the city of Mogadishu, with the aim of providing them with job opportunities and increasing their income, which contributes to meeting their needs and improving their standard of living. The second project included the distribution of 57 sewing machines in the city of Hargeisa, and 28 machines in Mogadishu, to needy families in different areas of the two cities, with the aim of empowering women and giving them the opportunity to practice the sewing profession, increasing their income, and help their families.

This humanitarian support confirms Qatar Charity's commitment to providing support to fragile communities and enabling them to live in dignity, through income-generating projects, providing job and training opportunities for them, and building a better future for them and their families.

Dr. Muhammad Hassan Nour, Director of the Rayan National Foundation, (one of the local institutions cooperating with Qatar Charity in this project) expressed his deep gratitude to Qatar Charity for their generous support to needy families in Somalia, stressing that these projects come at an important time, As Somalia suffers from difficult economic conditions, he pointed out that these projects will play a major role in improving the living conditions of the beneficiaries and enabling them to rely on themselves for livelihood.

Models for beneficiaries

Among the beneficiaries of these two projects is Ms. Halima Hassan Mohamed, who lives in Mogadishu, she received a small grocery store containing vegetables, which will help her provide a stable income for her family of five. On this occasion, Mrs. Halima expressed her happiness with the new grocery store and said: thanks to the Qatari people and Qatar Charity for this project that will help me provide a better life for my family.”

As for Mrs. Safiya Kausar Kassim, who lives in New Hargeisa, Hargeisa, she received a sewing machine from Qatar Charity. She expressed her gratitude for what Qatar Charity provided for her, saying: “I dreamed of practicing the sewing profession, but I was not able to do because I was unable to buy a sewing machine. thanks to Qatar Charity, I will be able to achieve my dream and help my family.”

It is worth noting that Qatar Charity continues to support development efforts in Somalia by implementing economic empowerment projects and providing the necessary humanitarian support to improve living conditions for the neediest groups.
