Qatar Charity signed an agreement with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen to implement a project to improve access to education services and reduce school dropout rates in Ibb Governorate, which is expected to benefit thousands of students and teachers.

Objectives of the agreement

This agreement aims to rehabilitate schools that were damaged due to the conflict and provide all necessary facilities in addition to providing school supplies to students and financial incentives to teachers, which will help continue the educational process and get rid of illiteracy, to reducing the dropout rate of male and female students in the various educational levels and also enhances the chances of completing education They have.

Through the implementation of this project, Qatar Charity also seeks to provide long-term educational opportunities for approximately 3,000 displaced students and residents of the region.

These students will also be enabled to access permanent and safe learning opportunities by supporting 5 schools in the Al-Udayn branch districts, through the establishment and rehabilitation of Classrooms and furnishing them.

Psychological aid

The agreement pays attention to psychological support for students who suffer from psychological problems for many reasons, including early employment and dropping out of education.

Social service specialists will conduct interviews with children in the targeted schools to provide psychological and social support to children raise awareness and train teachers on methods of continuous psychological support for these children who live in psychological conditions. Difficult to require follow-up and treatment.

Accumulated experiences

The signing of this agreement comes based on the appreciation of Qatar Charity’s accumulated experience in the field of education in several Yemeni governorates, including Taiz, Hajjah, and Ibb. Qatar Charity implemented several educational projects in the governorates of Taiz, Hajjah, and Ibb through urgent intervention in several schools, where it paid rent for school buildings spent financial benefits for teachers, and distributed school bags to approximately 5,000 students, in addition to providing school supplies and school uniforms.

Qatar Charity is currently implementing a program to support the education of orphan students in 22 governorates, where various monthly assistance will be provided to more than 600 students in the Taiz districts and more than 400 students in Ibb Governorate.
