Thanks to the generosity of the people of Qatar, Qatar Charity (QC) has succeeded in benefiting more than 5000 male and female students over the past years through the establishment of Al-Fajr School in Tirana, the capital of Albania, and the Qatar Training Center in Kosovo. Additionally, other schools have been built and furnished. This is part of Qatar Charity’s continued efforts to support the education of orphans and children from impoverished families around the world.
These two projects aim to instill values, principles, and ethics, enhance positive behaviors, and prevent school dropout among the children through educational, awareness, and cultural activities.
This comes in the context of marking the International Day of Education, which is celebrated by humanitarian organizations this year under the theme “learning for lasting peace” to grant the right to education to vulnerable groups, prevent school dropout, and eliminate illiteracy.
Al-Fajr School in Albania
The Qatari Al-Fajr School in Albania is a qualitative educational project. It works on the cognitive, behavioral, and ethical advancement. It has several orphans and children from impoverished families, as well as children from the Syrian and Arab communities in Albania.
Qatar Charity opened the Qatari Albanian School in the academic year 2010/2011, which has 400 students in the academic year 2023-2024. Initially, the school started with the preparatory education, as well as 10th and 11th grades. The primary education was added in the academic year 2013/2014.
The school recorded outstanding achievements among its students, with many successfully getting admission to medical, engineering, and journalism colleges. In 2014, one of the school's students obtained the highest score in the national secondary school exams and secured a scholarship to study medicine in the United Kingdom.
It is a comprehensive educational project that underscores Qatar Charity's commitment to supporting education worldwide to achieve equality and create a better society. The qualitative projects are not limited to schools alone; Qatar Charity has succeeded in establishing a training center in Kosovo where its students have achieved global excellence that received wide response in the country.
Qatar Training Center in Kosovo
Qatar Charity established the Qatar Training Center in Kosovo in 2013. Currently, it benefits 5200 students, providing training in the areas of languages, information technology, design, photography, and management. Additionally, it offers training programs for orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity. Students from the center participate in various international competitions, with 13 students successfully achieving outstanding positions in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Olympiad in Paris in 2023.
This success received widespread recognition in Kosovo, where Prime Minister Albin Kurti honored the participating students and commended the services provided by the center, which contributed to the students' success in the international competition.
Qatar Charity established, as of September 2023, a primary and preparatory school in Kosovo. The school has been fully constructed and furnished, benefiting 220 male and female students. It comprises 10 classrooms, equipped with all necessary facilities, and is managed by the Ministry of Education.
