Qatar Charity (QC), with the support of philanthropists in Qatar, has completed the construction and equipping of 32 mosques in various areas of Bangladesh in less than a year, providing a comfortable and safe environment for over 10,000 worshippers. Additionally, 700 mosques have been constructed across the country in the past five years, benefiting over 200,000 worshippers.

This comes in conjunction with the ‘Double Your Ajir’ campaign launched by Qatar Charity to run in the second ten days of Ramadan. The campaign aims to Provide Clean Drinking Water and housing for needy families, as well as to construct mosques at the lowest possible cost.

The construction of mosques was initiated due to the financial inability of local communities in villages and remote areas, as they had to use bamboo wood and zinc sheets to build their mosques, which did not provide a safe and suitable worship environment.

The construction of these 32 mosques took approximately 8 months, starting in August 2023 and completing in the current month of March. The area of each mosque ranges from 70 to 150 square meters, accommodating between 250 to 400 worshippers. Additionally, each mosque has been wonderfully designed and equipped, as well as provided with carpets, loudspeakers, ceiling fans, and copies of the Quran before being handed over to local authorities.

Positive Impact

The locals and members of the mosque committees have expressed their gratitude to Qatar Charity and its donors for providing support to build beautiful mosques in their regions.

Mohammad Rezaul Islam, president of a mosque committee in `Alomdostar’ Village of Madaripur district, said, "The locals had no financial capabilities to build such a spectacular mosque. We are truly pleased and grateful to the kind people of Qatar for extending their supporting hand."

Md Bachchu Mia, the president of the Mosque Committee in `Chitrovishram’ village of Magura district, expressed gratitude to the benefactors who made it possible to replace their old and dilapidated mosque with a new one.

Similarly, Babur Ali, the Secretary of the Mosque Committee in `Char Mogra’ village of Manikganj district, expressed his gratitude for the new mosque they received.

He mentioned that previously, they were praying in a mosque made of bamboo which was not suitable for the rainy season, causing them difficulties. But now they are blessed to have a well-equipped mosque to pray in.
