In response to the devastating floods that have ravaged southeastern Bangladesh, Qatar Charity (QC) has provided urgent food aid to 18,000 flood-affected individuals, in addition to providing clean drinking water to affected families daily. This effort is part of Qatar Charity’s ongoing campaign, ‘Rescue Flood Victims,’ which supports flood-affected communities in 18 countries, including Bangladesh.

The distribution of relief aid was carried out in coordination with local authorities to ensure that it reached those most in need efficiently. Food packages were distributed in strategic locations throughout the Noakhali district, with special attention to vulnerable groups such as families with children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

The aid, which included essential food items, was critical in addressing the urgent nutritional needs of the affected population, many of whom lost their homes and livelihoods due to the floods.

According to UNICEF, the recent floods have impacted 5.82 million people, including 2.36 million children, across 11 northern and southeastern districts, with 59 reported deaths and over 540,000 people seeking refuge in shelters.

In addition to food aid, Qatar Charity's intervention involves distributing clean drinking water to the affected families daily, focusing on the most severely impacted areas of the Noakhali district.

Beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for Qatar Charity’s timely response. “We lost everything to the floods. Qatar Charity’ aid helps meet our needs,” said Aysha Begum, a local resident.

“Qatar Charity’s response has been exemplary. The scale and speed of the aid have been crucial in mitigating the impact of the floods. Their support has not only provided immediate relief but has also helped restore hope to our people,” said Kaniz Fatema, a government official of Noakhali district, while attending Qatar Charity’s relief aid distribution in Shonaimuri Upazila.  She added that the clean water distribution has greatly alleviated the immediate health risks and has been a significant relief to the affected communities, thanking the benefactors of Qatar and Qatar Charity for swift action and effective response in this critical time.

It is worth noting that in response to the urgent humanitarian crises caused by devastating floods in several countries, Qatar Charity has recently launched the ‘Rescue Flood Victims’ campaign for 18 flood-affected countries. The campaign aims to provide essential aid to flood victims in the areas of food, shelter, healthcare, education, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
