Qatar Charity (QC), with the support of generous donors in Qatar, has inaugurated the ‘Love and Peace Village’ in Ghana. This village, which includes multiple service facilities, was established as part of Qatar Charity’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable development and address the needs of the most vulnerable groups in the areas of healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.
The ‘Love and Peace Village’, established in Kissi in the Central Region, includes two schools, each consisting of six classrooms, designed to provide ample space for students. Additionally, it features a three-story residential building to house students and orphans, offering them a safe and supportive living environment.
To support the community's health needs, the village also includes a clinic, which will be managed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and upgraded to a health center. Additionally, it features a mosque equipped with all the necessary amenities for prayer, along with four new wells to ensure access to clean water for all beneficiaries.
Over 40 houses have been constructed to accommodate healthcare workers and educators, ensuring stability among medical and educational staff and enabling the village's services to be fully staffed and operational.
Economic Empowerment
Economic empowerment projects are a central focus of the ‘Love and Peace Village’, which promotes food security and sustainable agricultural practices. The village also offers additional projects, such as tricycle services and a bakery, providing the residents opportunities for income generation and self- reliance.
Mr. Hasan Owda, Director of Qatar Charity's Office in Ghana, explained that the ‘Love and Peace Village’ serves as a model of sustainable community building, with its comprehensive approach to addressing the educational, economic, religious, and healthcare needs of the people in Kissi in the Central region. He added that this initiative supports Ghana’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that areas like Kissi have the tools and resources necessary to thrive.
Mr. Martin Sumani Baaku, Director of Health in Kissi, expressed his gratitude for the healthcare facility, acknowledging Qatar Charity's efforts in supporting Ghana's health sector.
Several residents expressed their happiness with the provided facilities and services.
