Qatar Charity (QC) has begun distributing food packages for the second quarter of this year, benefiting over 5,000 sponsored individuals in Mauritania.
The distribution event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Qatari Embassy in Mauritania, His Excellency Mr. Ghanem Al-Naimi. Also present were the representative of the Minister of Social Action, Children, and Family, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Al-Haj; the Mayor of Tevragh Zeina, Mr. Taleb El Mahjoub; and the Mayor of Toujouonine, Mr. Ahmed Salem Al-Filali.
The distributed packages consist of essential food items sufficient to support a sponsored family's needs for a month. This initiative aims to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable groups and meet their basic living requirements.
On this occasion, Engineer Omar Abdel Aziz, the Director of Qatar Charity's office in Mauritania, stated that Qatar Charity focuses on supporting government efforts to implement development projects, achieve sustainable development goals, help vulnerable and needy groups, and improve their living conditions. He explained that this event marks the launch of the distribution of dues for the second quarter of 2024 to those sponsored by Qatar Charity. Additionally, he noted that this initiative serves as a starting point for the implementation of several other development projects in the near future
During the event, the representative of the Ministry of Social Action, Children, and Family, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Al-Haj, expressed gratitude to Qatar Charity for its developmental, humanitarian, and social efforts. Meanwhile, the Mayor of Tevragh Zeina, Mr. Taleb El Mahjoub, emphasized the important role Qatar Charity plays in supporting needy Mauritanian families. He also expressed his happiness in attending the event and the municipality's readiness to collaborate and coordinate with Qatar Charity on future projects and programs.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for Qatar Charity's efforts to enhance living standards through food and cash distributions, indicating that they were in urgent need for the food aid, which addressed their essential needs. They hoped for continued support for the needy and the sponsored to improve their living conditions.
It is worth mentioning that Qatar Charity sponsors over 5,200 individuals in Mauritania, including orphans, needy families, people with disabilities, and teachers.
