In 2024, Qatar Charity (QC), through its office in Pakistan, implemented 1,805 projects across the country, including Pakistan-administered Jammu & Kashmir, benefiting 992,303 people. These projects focused on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), relief assistance, education, health, development, economic empowerment, and social care (sponsorships).
Relief Aid
Qatar Charity implemented 4 relief projects that benefited 71,750 people affected by harsh weather in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Jammu and Kashmir. These projected included the distribution of winter aid kits and dry food packages.
WASH
Qatar Charity's Pakistan office carried out 1,325 WASH projects, benefiting 194,449 vulnerable people across Punjab, Sindh, KP, Balochistan, and Pakistan-administered Jammu & Kashmir. These projects addressed critical water shortages by digging boreholes with hand and solar pumps, establishing gravity flow schemes, and constructing water ponds. They also included building toilets and handwashing facilities, along with providing pressure pumps and water storage tanks.
Economic Empowerment:
Qatar Charity implemented 337 income-generating projects, benefiting 2,359 individuals. These projects included welding, carpentry, tailoring, bakeries, and grocery shops, and provided resources such as sewing machines, rickshaws, and livestock (goats, poultry, and cows).
Education:
Qatar Charity implemented 23 education projects in Punjab, Sindh, and KP, by providing school supplies to nearly 700 children.
Health:
Qatar Charity implemented 30 health projects in Punjab, KP, and Sindh, benefiting 2,126 individuals. These projects provided medical equipment, wheelchairs, health center renovations, hearing devices, and treatment support for conditions like cataracts, cleft lips, and chronic diseases, in addition to conducting open-heart surgeries.
Development Projects:
Qatar Charity implemented 57 development projects to benefit 33,703 beneficiaries in Sindh, KP, and Punjab. 18 housing projects were implemented to benefit 203 beneficiaries including the flood victims in Punjab, Sindh, and KP. Qatar Charity also constructed 39 mosques, benefiting 33,500 people.
Social Care (Sponsorships)
The number of those sponsored through Qatar Charity’s ‘Rofaqa’ initiative reached 11,884, including 10,904 orphans, 362 needy families, 281 people with special needs, and 337 higher education students. Qatar Charity also implemented 20 wedding projects to support 20 orphaned girls with wedding expenses.
Seasonal Projects
During Ramadan, Qatar Charity implemented 4 seasonal projects such as Eid gifts, Ramadan Project, Zakat ul Fitr, and Udhaya Projects in KP, Punjab, Sindh, and Kashmir, benefitting 41,812 people, including flood victims and orphans.
In Partnership with UN Agencies
Qatar Charity’s Pakistan office in, in collaboration with UNICEF and the World Food Programme (WFP), implemented 5 projects to improve access to lifesaving services in the Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan regions, benefiting 633,500 people. These projects include improving water and sanitation services for Afghan refugees, child nutrition, and strengthening disaster preparedness.
