Qatar Charity builds housing complexes for needy families in Chad

Qatar Charity (QC), with the generous support of donors in Qatar, has handed over some 107 social housing units to families in need in Chad, benefiting 750 people. The organization is also preparing to commence work on 212 additional houses, which will accommodate an estimated 1,500 individuals.

This project is life-transforming for them and offers safe and dignified housing for needy families. These houses not only provide a roof over their heads but also give an opportunity for community bonding and address the critical issue of inadequate housing. Key handover in front of local authorities was a moment of immense joy and relief for the residents.  

These housing units, located in three residential complexes in N'Djamena, Chad's capital, are equipped with essential services and meet high standards of quality, security, and safety.

The first complex offers 57 housing units, along with a deep well and a solar-powered water tank. The second complex includes 40 units, a well with a solar-powered water tank, a mosque, a Quran memorization center, and a health center. The third complex features 10 units, a deep well with a solar-powered water tank, and a mosque.

The housing project has boosted the local economy by creating jobs and establishing a thriving village market for. In the next phase, Qatar Charity aims to complete several facilities and services within the housing complexes, including health centers offering primary healthcare and schools to enroll children and tackle school dropout rates.

Mr. Said Haroun, a beneficiary of one of the social housing units, said, "Words cannot fully express our thanks to Qatar’s donors and Qatar Charity for blessing us with these comfortable apartments in such an organized complex. We hope that they will complete the remaining facilities and services soon."

It is worth noting that Qatar Charity prioritizes implementing social housing projects in Chad. In the previous period, 78 social housing units were completed, bringing the total number of housing units built to 185 by the beginning of this year.
