Thanks to the generosity of donors in Qatar, Qatar Charity’s (QC) Ibsar (Eyesight) initiative restored sight to more than 300 individuals in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Overseen by Qatar Charity’s Sri Lanka Branch, the impactful cataract surgery project brought renewed hope to those suffering from vision loss.

This project targets preventable visual impairment, particularly in underserved regions, by providing medical interventions that enhance patients' quality of life and ease their suffering. It also aims to reduce pressure on healthcare institutions, raise community awareness about eye diseases, and help alleviate poverty associated with visual disabilities, especially among those who have waited a long time for treatment.

Overjoyed with the free treatment, beneficiaries affirmed its life-changing impact—restoring their sight and allowing them to return to daily life after enduring prolonged visual impairment and the financial burden of unaffordable surgery.

A beneficiary shared his heartfelt gratitude: "I lost sight in one eye about six months ago, but surgery was out of reach due to my financial hardship. This priceless support means everything to me. My prayers are with everyone who made this miracle happen."

It is worth mentioning that Qatar Charity's "Ibsar" initiative combats blindness by offering free eye checkups, medication, glasses, and surgeries to vulnerable people in several countries. It also promotes hygiene and prevention awareness for comprehensive eye care.
