Qatar Charity Establishes Health Centers in Niger

1/22/2017 |

Cooperating with the Ministry of Health in Niger, Qatar Charity has built and equipped five health centers in different regions where people lack health services. Shortage of health services can, in turn, spread diseases causing high mortality rate, especially among children, pregnant women and the older people.

QC has built a health clinic on 2,150 square meters in Niamey to cover the medical needs of more than 20 thousand people living in Bobyal neighborhood.

Further, a clinic was established in Bango, Tillabéri on 2,100 square meters to provide 11,669 people with health services in addition to another clinic that was built in Namara village, Tillabéri for the benefit of 700 people.

A medical clinic was established in Tordon village, the Dosso Region to cover the health needs of 5762 people. 4330 people will benefit from the health services provided by a clinic built in Salga village, the Dosso Region.

The Objectives of the Projects

Qatar Charity aims at raising the percentage of health coverage in Niger's regions, bringing health services closer to beneficiaries and reducing mortality rates associated with diseases and epidemics. Furthermore, QC also aims at alleviating the suffering of the population who do not have access to health services as the health centers are overcrowded and the country is unable to build and equip new health centers.

"QC has built and equipped five health centers in Niger as part of the humanitarian and developmental projects carried out in this impoverished country based on a survey, a comprehensive study and reports that were prepared by the government of Niger, as well as the testimonies of inhabitants in these regions," Mr. Faisal Al-Fahida, Executive Director of Operations, QC said.

A Robust Action Plan

He stated that Qatar Charity projects are well-planned based on a viable action plan and the coordination with beneficiaries and all relevant parties and authorities, such as the Regional Directorate of Public Health in Niger.

Extending Thanks

The people benefiting from health centers extended their thanks and expressed appreciation to Qatar Charity for solving the health services' problem in their regions and for implementing great development projects in the health sector, educational and social fields. In addition, QC sponsors orphans and carries out income-generating projects targeting the poor of both genders in Niger.

Previous Health Activities

In the presence of the National Coordinator for Combating Malaria, physicians, orphans and their families, Qatar Charity has recently launched a Medical Program for Combating Malaria in Niger for the benefit of 1,500 orphans and their families in Niamey, Tillabéri, and Dosso.

During the medical program, medical examinations were conducted for all orphans, medications were distributed to patients, and mosquito nets were provided to all orphans and their families. Besides, the physicians executed awareness-raising activities about the severity of malaria and its effect on employment and development, as well as the importance of personal hygiene and the hygiene of surrounding place.  In this regard, they explained how to use the net to prevent insects, especially mosquitoes that cause malaria.
