Qatar Charity’s ‘Daththirooni’ exhibition showcases winter hardship of the vulnerable, calls for support
As temperatures continue to drop in winter, Qatar Charity (QC) has invited the public, students, and media to visit an exhibition named ‘Daththirooni’, which literally means ‘Cover me with a Garment’. Organized in partnership with Al Hazm Mall, the event is part of Qatar Charity’s “How Long?” winter campaign to support vulnerable families struggling to stay warm during the harsh winter months around the world. Interactive Experience The exhibition began on Wednesday at Al Hazm Hall in Al Hazm Mall and will run until February 15, welcoming visitors daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The ‘Daththirooni’ exhibition is an engaging and interactive experience that helps visitors understand the challenges faced by the most vulnerable groups during winter in the most affected regions. It highlights the realities of homelessness, displacement, refuge, and hunger—where the vulnerable struggle against the cold without shelter, food, or warmth. The exhibition provides an opportunity to the visitors to offer support and help ensure a dignified life for those in need. Walkthrough One of the exhibition’s highlights is a massive blanket symbolizing warmth, protection, and security, where visitors can take photos. The exhibition also features a walkthrough experience that vividly portrays the harsh winter challenges faced by vulnerable communities, showing their struggles with the lack of food, medicine, safe shelter, and necessities. The 'Daththirooni' exhibition offers a unique interactive experience, taking visitors on a humanitarian journey that reflects the suffering of those affected by the bitter winter cold. The exhibition includes several sections, each depicting a realistic scene of the suffering of the most affected groups. The journey begins with the suffering of camp residents, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees living in tents that lack even the most basic elements of warmth. The exhibition also highlights the situation of Syrians released from prisons, who find themselves without shelter or support after years of detention. Moreover, the exhibition includes a section dedicated to highlighting the suffering of the people in Gaza, where a visitor sees homes completely destroyed as a result of aggression, reflecting the magnitude of the tragedy experienced by the residents in the harsh cold. Through these interactive sections, the exhibition aims to inspire visitors to empathize with those affected and support humanitarian relief efforts. Qatar Charity expressed its gratitude to Al Hazm Mall for supporting Qatar Charity’s events and campaigns, including this exhibition. The organization urged families, students, and the public to visit the exhibition, which is designed to support those in need—especially in crisis-hit regions. Through this initiative, Qatar Charity aims to send a message of solidarity, sympathy, and human fraternity. How Long? International Day of Human Fraternity: Al Amal City stands as beacon of hope
On February 4th each year, the world comes together to celebrate the International Day of Human Fraternity, a day dedicated to promoting the values of coexistence, solidarity, and cooperation among people. It is an occasion that highlights the importance of dialogue, tolerance, and social initiatives. Qatar Charity (QC) embodies these values through projects like Al Amal City in northern Syria, offering displaced families a safe shelter and renewed hope through permanent housing. The residential city, created through a collaboration between Qatar Charity and the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), comprises 1,400 fully equipped houses designed to accommodate over 8,800 people. The city is supported by essential service facilities, including schools, markets, a health center, and a mosque, marking a significant transformation in the lives of hundreds of families, who have moved from tents to dignified homes that offer them both safety and stability. Throughout the Syrian crisis, Qatar Charity has supported internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Syria and Syrian refugees in many countries like Turkey and Jordan. Recognizing the need for sustainable solutions, Al Amal City was built. More than just shelter, this integrated city provides dignified housing, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, offering a stable future for families who have suffered immensely. Qatar Charity's Al Amal City is a pioneering humanitarian project, moving beyond temporary relief to empower IDPs. Instead of basic aid, it offers the chance to rebuild lives, demonstrating that these individuals deserve dignity and a better future. This project demonstrates human fraternity in action. More than just charitable initiative, it embodies Qatari generosity to support families who have lost everything. If the goal of the International Day of Human Fraternity is to promote the values of cooperation and solidarity among people, then transformative projects like Al Amal City offer a practical lesson in how to turn these values into initiatives that make a real difference in people's lives. While this project is a vital step, millions of people remain displaced and in need of support. This raises an important question: Can we expect more initiatives like Al Amal City in crisis zones around the world? The answer lies in the international community’s readiness to embrace a new approach to humanitarian aid—one that prioritizes empowerment over temporary relief. Qatar Charity's Al Amal City should serve as a model and a call to rethink global support strategies. Al Amal City demonstrates that empathy must translate into action. It proves that united efforts, grounded in human values, can make dreams a reality. Fraternity is a commitment, not just a word. Al Amal City embodies this, showing that hope can flourish even in the direst situations.
