Bazzari Azhar Azizi is an Indonesian student from Blitar in East Java. He studies Islamic Economics at Tazkia University in Bogor, having been fascinated by the subject since he was a child. He joined the university after graduating from the Institute of Kantor in 2010. Bazzari is from a very poor family. He is the eldest of three children and in order to ease the burden on his parents he tried desperately to find financial aid or a scholarship to cover the cost of his studies. Thanks to Qatar Charity’s ‘Sponsorship of Seekers of Knowledge’ project, Bazzari, was able to do just that. Qatar Charity covered a significant part of the costs of Bazzari’s studies and he currently averages ‘Excellent’ with a score of 3.94 out of 4.00. Bazzari is fluent in both Arabic and English and has a passion for scientific research and debates, winning a number of prestigious competitions in these fields, including: • Prize for the best speaker in debate completion in English at his university in 2011 • Second prize in a research competition on Islamic Economics at the Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, 2013 • Second prize in the national Islamic Economics Olympics held at 11th March University in the city of Solo in 2013 • Best Paper Award at the Economic Research Forum in the Islamic Financial Field organized by the Central Bank of Indonesia in cooperation with a group of Islamic economics at the University of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Jakarta, in 2013
