QC, Al Ahli Club ink pact to support humanitarian work

Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a partnership agreement on humanitarian and development work with Al Ahli Sports Club, through which the club will allocate incomes of sports matches for humanitarian and charitable activities and Support the Orphans initiative around the world through its activities and promotion through players and joint activities.

The agreement was signed by QC's Chief Executive Officer Yousef Ahmed al Kuwari and President of Al Ahli Sports Club HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad al Thani.

Kuwari said the partnership strengthens the link between sports and charitable activities and volunteer work to support charitable initiatives and promote humanitarian projects.

He stressed the importance of such strategic partnerships with national institutions and agencies to spread the culture of volunteering to benefit from all abilities and capabilities to serve charitable work and to support humanitarian programmes and projects.

He said the agreement highlights Qatar Charity's keenness to involve all segments of society in voluntary work and its integration in supporting humanitarian and development projects while it at the same time affirms that the various categories of Qatari society are eager to donate in order to alleviate the suffering of those affected around the world.

Kuwari added that the terms of the agreement provide the possibility of the participation of the club representatives in local and international humanitarian trips and the implementation of projects on behalf of the club to be financed by its donations, adding that Qatar Charity will organise events, courses, workshops and awareness lectures to enhance the charitable and voluntary work spirit of the club members and athletes in particular.

He pointed out that QC's 'Partners' initiative, which will be promoted by the club, aims to support 150,000 orphans by the end of 2018 as crises and disasters continue around the world, expressing his hope that people and athletes will support the campaign.

On his part HE Sheikh Ahmed said that it's the club's social duty to be part of the humanitarian and charitable work, adding that the agreement is intended to enhance the role of sports and athletes to contribute and initiate charitable work.

The agreement was signed between both parties under national corporate responsibility, he said.

He pointed out that Al Ahli Sports Club will provide the necessary facilities to hold events and activities and promote the Humanitarian Projects in general, especially the initiative of 'Rofaqa' (Companions), adding that the club will provide suitable places to host the voluntary funds and collection devices of Qatar Charity, as well as providing the Club's playgrounds and facilities for Qatar Charity's annual activities.
