‘Rofaqa’ Competition sponsors 1,000 orphans in two months

Qatar University’s (QU) students, through ‘Rofaqa’ Competition’ managed to successfully sponsor 1,000 orphans during the period of two months. The competition was launched by Qatar Charity (QC) in co-operation with the university to promote the sponsorship of 1000 orphans, aiming to engage QU’s students in humanitarian and community work.

The teams “Like These Two” led by Adel Lamy, “Be Their Neighbors” led by Saud Al-Maa'adid and “Al Rawaim” led by Asma Al-Hammadi were ranked first, second and third respectively.

The ranking of the competing teams was based on the decision of the judging committee as per the criteria relating to the plan, quality, efficiency, content and impact of the events, the marketing and media campaign, the number of Orphans Sponsored and the amount of donations collected in addition to method and clarity of presentation, covering all the above points.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Abdullah Al-Shantour Al Yafie, Director of Student Services & Activities at Qatar University, Ali Ateeq Al Abdullah, Executive Director of Executive Management of Media and Communication at Qatar Charity and a large number of QU students.

Al Yafie expressed his pleasure at attending the ceremony and said that the goal of the competition has been achieved, which is the sponsorships of orphans, pointing out that it was a very valuable experience for students. He thanked Qatar Charity for providing them with such opportunities that unlocked their creative thinking abilities and encouraged them to engage in the community service.

Ali Ateeq Al Abdullah said “we at Qatar Charity were fully confident that our creative and innovative talents will win the completion and achieve the goal”.

Al-Abdullah expressed his thanks and appreciation to the management of Qatar University for its participation and cooperation with Qatar Charity in Social and Cultural Projects within the framework of social responsibility.

At the end of the ceremony, the competing teams, the judging committee, the ambassadors of the team leaders and the distinguished teams were honored, in addition to honoring all members of the competing teams with certificates of appreciation and shields.
