Qatar Charity has laid the foundation stone to build 15 Homes for Poor Families in the Kuala village of Banda Aceh, Indonesia.

These residential apartments fall within the framework of 30 houses, which will be under implementation during the current year 2018, as part of the efforts made by the charity in the areas of shelter and social housing. This aimed at preserving privacy and human dignity of the families in need.

Signing Ceremony

The operational procedures relating to the project have been initiated with the signing of the agreement for these apartments between Qatar Charity and Ameen -u- Allah Osman, the Governor of Banda Aceh. The signing ceremony was attended by HE Ahmed Jassim Al-Hamar, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Indonesia and a number of local officials in addition to the speaker of the local parliament of Banda Aceh.

On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, the governor said he was grateful to Qatar Charity, as it has been providing services to the people of Aceh for 13 years, especially in the field of social welfare and orphan care.

He pointed out that the Aceh region has suffered from instability and then from the tsunami, so it needs development efforts. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Qatari donors for their support for our regions and urge them to continue to support them because their donations make a difference in the lives of people”, he added.

The Journey of Giving

The ambassador of Qatar to Indonesia said in 2005, Qatar Charity, with the support from Qatari donors, has embarked on the philanthropic journey in Indonesia from the Aceh region. Since then, it has constantly been supporting the country, noting that the journey of giving will continue.

He expressed his great pleasure over Qatari active and effective participation in such giving that benefit people everywhere, including Indonesia, praying to Allah the Almighty to accept the good deeds of donors.

Residential Complex in Aceh

For his part, the director of QC’s office Indonesia, reviewed the efforts made by the charity in the field of social housing, saying that this project is simply an extension of what Qatar Charity has been offering through this field in Aceh and other Indonesian cities. He also noted that the first residential complex implemented by Qatar Charity in Indonesia was in Aceh in 2006, which contains 170 houses.

He concluded by saying that the total number of homes completed by Qatar Charity or under implementation reached 584 houses, of which 454 were actually built by the end of the last year 2017, and 130 of them are under implementation.
